How many years have you worked in the industry? What does this industry look like in your mind?

Chen Xinwei: I have been in this industry since I graduated in 1985. I really feel a lot about the changes in this industry. China's chemical fiber industry has experienced a great change from scratch, from small to large, from weak to strong, from import to global supply. In the late 1950s, China's annual chemical fiber output was less than 10000 tons. In 1978, China's chemical fiber output was only 285000 tons during the reform and opening up; Ten years after the reform and opening up, the chemical fiber production reached 5.1 million tons in 1998, accounting for 24% of the world's total chemical fiber production, becoming the world's largest chemical fiber producer.

In the new century, China's chemical fiber industry has entered a period of rapid development. In 2020, the output of chemical fiber will reach 60.25 million tons, accounting for 84% of China's total fiber processing and more than 70% of the world's. China's conventional fibers have maintained the international leading level as a whole, and the technical level of high-performance fibers and bio based fibers is gradually moving towards a new stage of running with the world's leading level, basically meeting the needs of key fields.

What do you think is the most prominent problem in the industry?

Chen Xinwei: at present, I am most concerned about the short board and industrial safety problems of high-performance fiber. First, the basic research on high performance fiber materials is relatively weak in China; Second, the domestic level of high-quality resin, oiling agent, sizing agent and other raw and auxiliary materials supporting the development of high-performance fibers is relatively low, and they still rely on imports; Third, it is difficult to jointly tackle key problems in the industrial chain of high-performance fiber materials; Fourth, high performance fibers need to expand high-end applications.

To solve these problems, efforts should be made from two aspects: one is to strengthen basic research; the other is to strengthen the close cooperation between industry, University, research and application.

What kind of image do you want China's textile industry to establish outside the circle?

Chen Xinwei: on the Fortune Global 500 list in 2021, there are 4 chemical fiber enterprises on the list, and Hengli Group's business income ranks 67th on the list, ranking first among textile and chemical fiber enterprises; Rongsheng holding group and Hengyi group were listed for the first time; Shenghong group rose from 455th in 2020 to 311.

The rise and success of these chemical fiber enterprises entering the refining and chemical field is the result of the scale-up and integration development stage of the industry. I hope these leading enterprises can play a good demonstration effect in the industry, play a leading role in enterprise development, brand building, social responsibility and other aspects, and gradually form a new industrial form in China while changing the industrial chain pattern.
