In September 1949, she followed her aunt to work in the spinning workshop of No.6 national cotton mill in Qingdao and became a spinner.

In the summer of 1951, Chen Shaomin, then chairman of the China textile trade union, presided over the on-the-spot meeting of spinning work and promotion of "Hao Jianxiu working method" in Qingdao. If the roller flower level of national spinning workers is the same as that of Hao Jianxiu, 44460 pieces of yarn can be produced a year..." After more than one year's intensive work, grassroots elections were held in more than 210000 grass-roots electoral units and 323 million registered voters. A total of 5.66 million representatives of the grass-roots people's Congress were elected. Sometimes, when she wakes up after sleeping, she is advised to pay attention to her body instead of just studying. He wrote two pairs of couplets, which are "cross browed and cold to thousand husband fingers, bow to be willing to be an ox" to Hao Jianxiu and Lang XianFen. He Xiangning said to them, "I like these two sentences very much. They are from the self mockery written by Lu Xun, a writer. Now I give them to you. I hope they can guide you in the future." These two words also inspired Hao Jianxiu.
