Ministry Of Commerce: Uzbekistan To Establish Cotton Industry Committee Directly Under The President

On June 28, Uzbek President mirziyev presided over a meeting to discuss issues such as increasing cotton production and expanding textile exports.

The meeting pointed out that the textile industry is of great significance to ensuring Uzbekistan's export and employment. In recent years, Urumqi cotton textile industry has made great achievements. Nearly 350 large factories have been put into operation; The volume of products increased by 300 million US dollars compared with that in 2016; 100% reprocessing of cotton raw materials was realized; The employment problem of 400000 people has been solved; The industrial cluster system is fully implemented in the industry.

Rice proposed the establishment of a cotton industry committee directly under the president, to be managed by the Minister of innovation and development. The responsibilities of the Committee include: determine the high-yield and Early Maturing Cotton Varieties Planted in each prefecture and cluster every year; According to the climate and temperature changes in different regions, the corresponding fertilization scheme was formulated; Standardize the use of herbicides and insecticides; Research and development of pest control technology suitable for local conditions. At the same time, the committee will set up a research center.

In order to improve production efficiency and further expand export, the meeting also put forward the following requirements: develop a special electronic platform that can be included in all drip irrigation equipment suppliers, create a transparent system, and reduce equipment procurement costs; To strengthen the legal protection of cluster activities, each district administrative unit is required to set up no more than two clusters; The Ministry of investment and foreign trade is responsible for attracting foreign companies and famous brands to participate in the production; Provide no more than 10% subsidy to textile export enterprises; Organize special planes to transport finished products for foreign brands; To allocate US $100 million to the export promotion agency to provide subsidies for exporters to lease overseas warehouses; Simplify tax and customs procedures; Strengthen personnel training, integrate textile light industry college and Wuhan Textile Technology Park, and implement dual system training program from the new academic year.
