This year, China's ranking in the global innovation index rose to 11th from 12th last year. The top five are Switzerland, the United States, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

　　 According to the world intellectual property organization, China's achievements show the effect of a country using innovation as an engine of growth and giving a lot of attention. China is building an innovation ecosystem in a very comprehensive way, which is an important factor in China's success.

　　 Hu Wenhui, deputy director of the State Intellectual Property Office, said that in the 2022 global innovation index report just released by the world intellectual property organization, China's ranking rose to the 11th place, one more place higher than that of last year, firmly ranking first in the middle and high-income economies. This is the 10th consecutive year since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Our country's ranking has been steadily increased by 23 places. This shows that China's comprehensive strength of intellectual property and scientific and technological innovation capacity have made remarkable progress. It also confirms China's great achievements in implementing the new development concept, implementing the innovation driven development strategy and strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights.

The total social R & D investment increased from 1.03 trillion yuan in 2012 to 2.79 trillion yuan in 2021. The number of invention patents per 10000 people in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) increased from 3.2 to 19.1, and social satisfaction with intellectual property protection increased from 63.69 points to 80.61 points.

China ranks first in the world in nine indicators, such as domestic market size, patent application of native people and growth of labor output value; In the domestic industrial diversification, industrial cluster development and other indicators, especially the world's leading five science and technology clusters, China occupies two seats, which means that China's innovation and development show a good positive relationship, and the accelerated growth of innovation is a powerful engine to promote high-quality development.

Other emerging economies also maintained their consistent strong performance, with India and Turkey in the top 40 for the first time.

In 2021, the R & D expenditure of the world's top enterprises will increase by nearly 10%, reaching more than 900 billion US dollars, higher than that in 2019 before the outbreak of new crown pneumonia. In 2021, venture capital transactions surged by 46%, on a par with the record levels of the Internet boom of the late 1990s.
