The 2023 Annual Meeting Of The Clothing Sub Committee Of The Ministry Of Education'S Teaching Steering Committee For Advanced Textile Majors Was Held In Wuhan

On July 28, the 2023 annual meeting of the Clothing Sub committee of the Teaching Steering Committee of Textile Specialty in Universities of the Ministry of Education was held in Wuhan. About 70 scholars and teachers from more than 30 universities, including Donghua University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology, Wuhan Textile University and Xi'an University of Engineering, attended the meeting, focusing on the construction of clothing specialty courses and talent cultivation.

The garment industry is dominated by fashion and is one of the industries with the highest degree of integration in the world. The clothing specialty itself also has a strong interdisciplinary attribute, involving materials science, ergonomics, aesthetics, computer science, etc.

The experts at the meeting discussed the construction of first-class clothing specialty, the construction of first-class clothing courses, the ideological and political construction of clothing specialty courses, and the certification of engineering education specialty. Among them, topics such as how to deeply connect industries, promote school enterprise cooperation, how to effectively play the role of practical classes, and how to cultivate students' innovation awareness have aroused many teachers' resonance.

"The industry continues to develop, and talent training should keep pace with the times." Tao Hui, deputy director of the Clothing Sub committee of the Teaching and Instruction Committee of the Ministry of Education for Textile Majors in Colleges and Universities, and professor of Wuhan Textile University, explained that in the Internet era, clothing production is moving towards intelligent manufacturing, and clothing design also has "smart design". Talent training must keep pace with industry development, and even need to walk in front of the industry.

Tao Hui said that the development of the industry requires students not only to learn technology and develop good character, but also to have an international perspective, more importantly, to have their own thinking and innovation, and to be able to apply what they have seen and learned to practice. The teaching of clothing specialty provides students with space for practice and challenges for learning through teacher studios, practice classes, school enterprise cooperation and coordination, and stimulates their internal motivation to achieve the training goal.

It is reported that the conference was hosted by the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee for Textile Majors, China Textile and Clothing Education Association, and undertaken by the College of Clothing of Wuhan Textile University. The purpose is to summarize the experience in the construction of China's top garment specialty, provide guidance and support for the education reform and innovation of garment specialty, and the cultivation of outstanding talents, and promote the sustainable development of China's garment specialty and garment industry.
