    On December 27, the kick-off meeting of the strategic research and consulting project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) "Research on the Implementation Path of Synergistic Efficiency of Pollution Reduction and Carbon Reduction in the Textile Industry" was held in Beijing in a combination of online and offline.

    Yu Jianyong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, first introduced the background and overall situation of the project. He pointed out that the report of the Twentieth National Congress of the Communist Party of China made an important deployment for "promoting green development and harmonious coexistence between man and nature", and proposed "coordinating industrial restructuring, pollution control, ecological protection, tackling climate change, promoting carbon reduction, pollution reduction, green expansion, growth, and promoting ecological priority, conservation and intensive, green and low-carbon development". At present, the construction of ecological civilization in China is faced with two strategic tasks at the same time, namely, achieving a fundamental improvement of the ecological environment and achieving peak carbon neutrality. The requirements for multi-objective governance of the ecological environment are further highlighted.

    As a pillar industry of national economic and social development, the textile industry has a complete industrial chain and a large industrial scale. Driven by policies, markets and industries, pollution reduction and carbon reduction and green transformation have become an important development direction of the textile industry. To this end, the Chinese Academy of Engineering has set up a key research and consulting project of the Ministry of Science of "Research on the Implementation Path of Collaborative Efficiency Enhancement of Pollution Reduction and Carbon Reduction in the Textile Industry". The project is implemented by Donghua University. The research team is composed of academicians in the textile field, industry associations, colleges and universities, enterprises and other experts. Based on the characteristics that environmental pollutants and carbon emissions are highly rooted, homologous and in the same process, the project plans to clarify the goals, models and institutional mechanisms of industry pollution reduction, carbon reduction and synergy, build an implementation path of pollution reduction, carbon reduction and synergy in line with the actual development of the textile industry, guide and promote the overall green transformation of the textile industry, and provide reference for relevant national departments to make decisions.

    Zhang Chuanxiong, Director of the Science and Technology Development Center of Textile Industry, made the opening report on behalf of the overall team. Zhang Chuanxiong said that at present, the problems of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in the textile industry are mainly reflected in: collaborative control focuses on end of pipe governance, the path of promoting synergy is not clear, and the collaborative innovation mechanism and system are not perfect. In view of the above problems, the main research contents of the project "Research on the Implementation Path of Synergistic Efficiency of Pollution Reduction and Carbon Reduction in the Textile Industry" include the following five aspects: first, the analysis of the characteristics of environmental pollutants and carbon emissions in the textile industry, second, the selection of pollution reduction and carbon reduction technologies in the textile processing process, and third, the research on resource recovery and reuse and carbon emission reduction synergy technology in the textile industry, Fourth, research on collaborative innovation of textile typical backbone enterprises and industrial parks to reduce pollution and carbon, and fifth, research on the implementation path of collaborative efficiency of textile industry to reduce pollution and carbon.

    Lv Jiabin, Vice President of China Chemical Fiber Industry Association, made the opening report on behalf of the chemical fiber group, introducing the general situation of the chemical fiber industry, the overall research objectives and key work contents of the project. He mentioned that the chemical fiber industry is a process industry, and carbon emissions mainly come from energy activities. In the future, the research team will carry out targeted research, analyze the main sources of pollutants and carbon emissions in the industry, identify key links, screen collaborative technologies for pollution reduction and carbon reduction in the industry, and finally form a typical demonstration project for collaborative control and upgrading of pollutants and carbon emissions, Support the research of the overall project team.

    Wang Yao, Vice President of China Cotton Textile Industry Association, made the opening report on behalf of the Cotton Textile Group. Wang Yao said that the pollution reduction in the cotton textile industry is mainly in sizing, fiber and yarn dyeing and fabric finishing, among which sizing is the key field of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in the cotton textile industry. The key to solve the problem lies in the development and application of textile sizes that are easy to adjust, desize and degrade; Development and application of low temperature sizing and low humidity environment weaving size; R&D and application of sizing technology with low sizing rate; Development of sustainable size. He pointed out that at present, the pollution reduction and carbon reduction technologies of the textile industry are not clear, and there is a lack of effective evaluation methods and typical cases. It is necessary to deeply study the typical pollution reduction and carbon reduction technologies and paths of the industry, form evaluation methods that meet the requirements of high-quality development of the industry, promote the synergy of pollution reduction and carbon reduction throughout the textile industry chain, guide and promote the overall green transformation of the industry, It provides reference for relevant national departments to make decisions.

    Li Guimei, President of China Industrial Textile Industry Association, made the opening report on behalf of the industrial group, introducing the current status of the industrial textile industry, research basis and specific topics. She analyzed the energy consumption and pollutant sources of the process flow of spunlaced nonwovens, spunbonded nonwovens and needle punched nonwovens, and proposed that the research on the collaborative technology of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in the nonwovens industry will be carried out from two dimensions of the industry and the industrial chain. In the future, the project team will focus on the nonwovens industry to focus on the implementation path of the collaborative efficiency of pollution reduction and carbon reduction.

The good idea of the project lies in "synergy". The high-quality development of the industry needs synergy, laying a solid foundation for the coordinated development of the industry in "technology, fashion and green". In the face of challenges and pressures in the current industry development, we need to find a path in the high-quality development direction of pollution reduction and carbon reduction. The Action Outline for Building a Modern Textile Industrial System (2022-2035) issued by China Textile Federation in August this year also made planning requirements in four aspects: source reduction, process control, end treatment, and recycling, which is highly consistent with the main work in the scientific and technological field advocated by the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He pointed out that the industry's pollution reduction and carbon reduction still faced weak links in terms of weak research foundation, lack of common technologies, and imperfect coordination mechanism.
