Embroidery And Natural Crafts - Symposium On Inheritance And Innovation Of Embroidery Skills Held In Beijing

On January 7, 2024, the "Embroidery of Heavenly Craft - Innovation Symposium on the Inheritance of Embroidery Skills" was held in the Forbidden Academy of the Palace Museum. After several years of development, the thematic comprehensive cultural creative project of "Happiness in the Palace, Prosperity in the Dragon and Phoenix" has enriched its presentation and enabled its life with traditional culture to meet the needs of the public for a better life.

Experts and scholars attending the meeting deeply analyzed the application and implication of the traditional auspicious pattern "Dragon and Phoenix Bring Prosperity". Through combing and displaying the weaving and painting embroidery patterns from the Shang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, the guests will enjoy the beautiful patterns.

The inheritor of intangible cultural heritage of palace embroidery introduced the origin, development and innovative application of traditional palace embroidery in detail. The traditional palace embroidery patterns are mainly composed of dragon and phoenix, birds and animals, flowers, waves, clouds and water, and twelve chapter patterns, implying profound auspiciousness. The use of color is based on sky (dark blue), ground (bright yellow), sun (bright red), and moon (white moon), with strong contrast and complementing each other. The materials are exquisite, the techniques are diverse, and the skills are superb.
