    Future Materials

In the afternoon of March 7“ 2024 Sustainable Future Materials Summit ”It was successfully held at the China International Textile Accessories (Spring and Summer) Expo and released Fashion Science Fantasy: Materials for a Sustainable Future Preview 。 The summit attracted professionals from all fields to share and deeply discuss the cutting-edge technologies, innovation practices and industry development trends of sustainable materials in the future, providing a platform for experts and scholars in the industry, business leaders and government representatives to exchange and learn together.

Summit invitation Li Lingshen, Vice President of China Textile Industry Federation, Yu Jianyong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chief Scientist of China Textile Industry Federation Delivered a speech, Yan Yan, Vice President of China Textile Industry Federation and Director of Social Responsibility Office, Florian Heubrandner, Executive Vice President of Lanjing Group, Lu Xiaochao, Asia Pacific Business Director of Textile Business Department of Eastman (China) Investment Management Co., Ltd., and Professor Wang Huaping, Executive Vice President of School of Materials of Donghua University They delivered keynote speeches and shared their cutting-edge views on sustainable future materials. The meeting was hosted by Hu Kehua, Deputy Director of the Social Responsibility Office of the China Textile Industry Federation. The thematic discussion links covered many aspects from material research and development to production application, from environmental protection standard construction to consumer awareness, providing participants with a comprehensive and profound vision of sustainable materials in the textile industry.

Li Lingshen It was mentioned in the opening speech that "the exploration and prospect of future sustainable materials" is not only a must answer for the industry, but also a quick answer for enterprises.

Yu Jianyong Academicians analyzed the trend and understanding ideas of sustainable materials in simple terms, and emphasized that the future materials are a systematic project, which should form a multi link coupling mode of integration and innovation, form a new quality productivity, improve the modern industrial system, and jointly move towards a new chapter in the textile industry.

Yan Yan The preview version of Fashion Science Fantasy: Materials for a Sustainable Future was released. The report points out that there will be an exciting material innovation in the future. With the help of cutting-edge technologies such as biology, microbiology, genetic engineering and digital intelligence AI technology, we will cultivate new materials to meet human needs and reveal its unprecedented diversity of functions. Compared with the current blind exploitation of oil and coal, the abuse of petrochemical products and the traditional agricultural farming methods to obtain leather and meat, we will be more responsible for managing and using the precious resources of the earth.

While maintaining the ecological balance of the earth and ensuring the continuity of life in the future, we will actively seek and develop new resources, and realize the regeneration of resources through advanced technology and recycling methods. With the help of digital means, we will accelerate the process of discovering new production materials and tools, improve the design, development, manufacturing and service process of the entire product, and connect the internal and external environment of the enterprise through digital means to achieve more effective use of resources.

We will give more decision-making power to nature, empower nature through science and technology, promote more new life forms, stimulate the utility of diversified materials, and rebuild the recycling system of natural regeneration. Therefore, we urgently need a material revolution, and this moment has come.

Florian Heubrandner He delivered a keynote speech entitled "Towards a Better Future", shared the sustainable core market of Lanjing Group and its prospects for future sustainable market development, and introduced the new scientific carbon target of Lanjing Group, as well as its investment and achievements in China and the global market to achieve the goal of net zero emissions, This paper analyzes on how enterprises continue to explore sustainable materials and sustainable manufacturing in their development.

Lu Xiaochao He delivered a keynote speech with the theme of "Future Material Innovation", shared Eastman's successful experience in green production and low-carbon emission reduction in the face of huge challenges in the textile industry, and proposed that under the full cycle mode, reducing excessive intake of natural resources and promoting the research, development and use of recycled materials have become an important issue. Sustainable materials need to be beautiful and comfortable, while reducing environmental impact in the life cycle. In the process of production, use and disposal, resource utilization, energy conservation and emission reduction and environmental impact need to be considered.

Professor Wang Huaping We shared the keynote speech of "Low carbon fiber and sustainable development thinking", shared the cutting-edge research progress from three aspects of low carbon fiber connotation, low carbon fiber manufacturing, and low carbon fiber development, and discussed more environmentally friendly and sustainable waste disposal methods of fiber materials, as well as how to improve low carbon manufacturing from the value chain.

During the guest discussion, from Mo Weibiao, Director of Global Textile Technology Market Development Department of Lanjing Group, Ma Lei, Sustainable Development Manager of Eastman Group in Asia Pacific Region, Xia Yanhong, Director of Decathlon China's Sustainable Development Change, Guan Xiaoyu, Associate Professor of School of Material Design and Engineering of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and Cai Junshan, Director of WGSN Consumer Trend , shared their feedback views on the sustainable future material report proposed by Vice President Yan Yan.

Mo Weibiao It is considered that the thought change in the report has shifted from humanism to the view of symbiosis of all things, which is very wonderful.

Ma Lei He said that in response to the report, we should become dreamers in reality and boldly imagine the future, which plays a positive role in shaping industry patterns and consumer attitudes.

Xia Yanhong From the perspective of brand, it emphasizes the importance of consumers' perception of brand, and believes that further expanding the influence of consumer will help to spread the concept of sustainable development.

Guan Xiaoyu The professor said that the report resonated with him, discussing the future life and society we expect and the role of materials in this transformation.

Cai Junshan As a representative of the consumption trend organization, I hope to see more reports focusing on the future.

As for the next action of relevant stakeholders, Xia Yanhong The consumer side needs to further expand its influence to influence more consumers and spread the concept of sustainable development. Professor Guan Xiaoyu said that the industry association should develop transparent and open green material standards.

The successful holding of this summit has further promoted the exchange and cooperation between the global textile and clothing industries, and is conducive to promoting the industry's green and sustainable development in the future. The participants said that through this summit, they not only learned about the trend and dynamics of sustainable development in the forefront of the industry, but also deeply understood the latest research and practical results on sustainable development materials. The participants unanimously recognized that achieving the sustainable development of the textile industry and the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality requires the joint efforts and continuous innovation of the whole industry. The holding of the summit has injected new impetus into the industry.

Introduction to sustainable future materials project

Materials are the forerunner of industrial revolution and industrial development, the foundation of high-tech development, and also play an important role in reducing the environmental impact of human activities. According to the LCA study on the full life cycle assessment of textiles by the Social Responsibility Office of China Textile Federation, the proportion of carbon emissions of textiles at the material end can reach 30-50%. At the same time, in the study of Circular Fashion: China's New Textile Economy Outlook with Alan MacArthur Foundation, it was found that the recyclability of textile materials has become a crucial factor in the circular transformation of the fashion industry.

In view of this, the Social Responsibility Office of the China Textile Industry Federation will launch the first 20 month open source project of "sustainable future materials" in 2021, aiming at the long-term goals of sustainable development of the textile and clothing industry in the medium term of 2030 and 2050, and cooperate with market leaders in global textile material research and development Lenzing Group and Eastman Group As“ Sustainable Future Materials ”Contributors to the strategic value of the project, WGSN and School of Material Design and Engineering, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology It has also become the chief knowledge partner to explore with industry chain partners the unified connotation and evaluation system of sustainable future materials, as well as the industrial goals and roadmap of sustainable future materials development, promote the sustainable exploration, dialogue and application of future materials in China's textile industry, and stimulate the sustainable leadership of the industry in the future.
