Youxi stands out in China's textile industry. Youxi is located in the middle of Fujian, and the textile industry is the largest pillar industry of Youxi County. The county has won the reputation of "China's famous leather fabric city" and "China's famous blended yarn city". In recent years, the pace of industrial restructuring in Youxi County has accelerated, especially the leather base cloth industry and the cotton textile industry chain, from the earliest inefficient rapier machine to the highly intelligent air jet loom and warp and weft knitting machine; From the earliest rotor spinning to the integrated application of new generation information technology, compact spinning and vortex spinning, the textile industry of Youxi County is gradually transforming from labor-intensive to technology intensive.

According to Zhou Qingyu, secretary of Youxi County Party Committee, Youxi has initially formed an industrial cluster of leather base cloth, high-quality yarn, nylon filament, etc., which has fostered a relatively complete local characteristic leather base cloth industrial chain of "spinning weaving dyeing finishing coating (leather making)", and is striving to build an industrial chain of "nylon filament (spinning yarn) weaving (warp and weft knitting, flower knitting) dyeing finishing clothing".

In 2023, Youxi County will have an annual output of 170 million meters of printed and dyed leather fabric, 195000 tons of knitted fabric, 1.5 million spindles of spinning and 135000 tons of nylon filament; At present, there are 99 textile enterprises in the county, with an annual output value of nearly 30 billion yuan.

At present, the counterpart cooperation between Shanghai and Sanming, Quanzhou and Sanming is in depth. On the same day, more than 200 industry association representatives and practitioners from Shanghai, Beijing, Quanzhou and other places participated in the high-quality development conference of Youxi textile industry. The conference also held a signing ceremony for investment promotion projects and supply and demand docking projects. Six investment promotion projects were successfully signed, involving the integration of industry and education, new materials, functional clothing, garment deep processing, industrial cluster construction, leather fabric production and other fields, with a total investment of 1.52 billion yuan; 16 enterprises signed the supply and demand docking, with a contract amount of 242 million yuan.

Among them, Youxi County has signed an industry education integration project with the Textile College of Donghua University from Shanghai, and Donghua University has signed an expert workstation with Youxi County Science and Technology Association to provide support for the cultivation of textile talents in Youxi. Wang Xianfeng, vice president of the Textile College of Donghua University, said that he hoped to reach a certain tacit cooperation among universities, vocational colleges and enterprises to jointly promote the rapid development of Youxi's textile industry.

Zhang Haiyan said that the China Textile Federation will fully support and help Youxi develop its advantages in industrial development, build a new quality production relationship with complete elements, scientific order and efficiency improvement, and further promote the construction of the modern textile and clothing industry system in Youxi County.
