The banana fiber extracted here has similar properties to hemp, with high strength, high moisture regain, fast moisture absorption and drainage, strong antibacterial property, biodegradable and other characteristics." In the laboratory of Professor Zhang Meiling of the Textile College, nearly 500g of banana fiber can be extracted from 1kg of banana stem raw materials, The blended yarn made of banana fiber and cotton fiber can be woven into bedding, curtains, sofa cloth, etc.
Tianjin University of Technology has always had strong scientific research strength and the ability to transform scientific and technological achievements in the field of modern textile. "This is the lightest arc protection fabric in China at present," said Zhao Xiaoming, pointing to a piece of green fabric on the company's display platform. Although the surface looks like ordinary fabric, the function of this fabric has great potential.

This carbonized layer has a low thermal conductivity, which can effectively block the heat transfer and slow down the heat transfer to the human body. At the same time, the carbonized layer can also prevent the spread of flame, play a certain role in flame retardance, and avoid burns. "Since we have independently developed and mastered key technologies and arc protection materials with the same specifications and protective effects, our price is less than half of that of foreign imports," he said.

Zhao Xiaoming said that this seemingly ordinary white cloth has an antibacterial effect that reaches the international advanced level. After 50 times of washing, the antibacterial rate of general antibacterial cloth may still be more than 70%, while after 150 times of washing, the antibacterial rate of this cloth can still reach more than 90%.

It is lead-free and non-toxic, and can replace traditional lead clothing. Under the same protective effect, its weight is 30% lighter than that of traditional lead clothing."
