Industrial Cluster: Concerned About The Expected Harvest Of Australian Cotton, Optimistic And Equal To The Output Of The Previous Year

According to foreign news on October 1, the Australian Cotton Association said on Tuesday that in 2024/25, Australia will harvest about 4.4 million bales (or 1 million tons) of cotton, roughly equal to the output of the previous year.

Michael Murray, chairman of the Australian Cotton Association, said: "This year we are expected to plant about 400000 hectares of cotton. Our growers are optimistic about the crops in this year, including soil conditions, water content and water distribution. For most people, the current price still reflects a profitable result, including all mobility benefits."

In the main planting areas of New South Wales and Queensland, cotton is usually planted in October and picked around March.

The Australian Cotton Association said that farmers planted nearly 480000 hectares of cotton last year.

According to the data of the Australian Department of Agriculture, the cotton output of Australia in 2023/24 will be 1.1 million tons, and it is estimated that the cotton output in 2024/25 will be slightly higher than 1 million tons.

The vast majority of Australian cotton is exported.
