The Final Of Fujian Footwear Industry Vocational Skills Competition Was Held In Jinjiang, Quanzhou

Recently, the final of the 2024 Fujian Footwear Industry Professional Skills Competition hosted by Fujian Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, Fujian Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security and Fujian Provincial Federation of Trade Unions was held in Jinjiang, Quanzhou. It is understood that this is the first time that Fujian has held a professional skills competition for shoemakers, aiming to create, tap and cultivate excellent shoemaking skilled talents and promote high-quality development of the shoemaking industry.

A total of 175 footwear enterprises, design company employees and university teachers from key shoemaking bases such as Quanzhou and Putian participated in the preliminary contest. Finally, 50 players from 24 enterprises and universities, including Anta, Special Step, 361 ° and Zhongqiao, were shortlisted for the final contest, competing for gold, silver, bronze and winning prizes.

According to Wang Yaya, the chief referee of the competition and the dean of the Smart Manufacturing Institute of Quanzhou Light Industry Vocational College, the competition was conducted in accordance with the requirements of the national professional skill standard for shoemakers, senior workers (Level III) and above, and consisted of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Among them, the practical operation mainly tests the creative design, structural design, sample making and other design work of footwear products, as well as the process skills such as material cutting, upper making, bottom making and upper sole forming, and shoe finishing.

Li Jun, secretary-general of Fujian Footwear Industry Association, said in an interview that he hoped that more shoemakers would contribute to the development of the shoemaking industry with their exquisite craftsmanship and that more shoemakers would become craftsmen in the new era.

Fujian is a big province in footwear industry, with the largest industrial scale in the country. It has two "China's Shoe Cities", Jinjiang and Putian, Quanzhou, and has cultivated a number of well-known sports brands. Since this year, the shoemaking industry of the province has maintained a good development trend. From January to October, the operating income of shoemaking enterprises above designated size increased by 11.6%, and the output of shoes reached 3.2 billion pairs.
