"In the past, Xinjiang machine-made long staple cotton has been plagued by problems such as high impurity content in processing, high fiber loss, and the quality can not meet the needs of the industry." Kong Jie, deputy director of the Cotton Research Institute of the Xinjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said that Xinjiang long staple cotton has the characteristics of long, thin, strong fibers, and has a high reputation in the international market, but in recent years, Xinjiang long staple cotton is faced with high impurity content in seed cotton after machine picking, It is also difficult to clean because it is polluted by foreign matters such as plastic film and drip irrigation belt. In order to improve the processing quality of machine picked cotton and meet the market demand for high cost performance raw cotton, the method of improving the impurity removal strength of seed cotton is usually adopted, but it has caused serious mechanical damage to the fiber, resulting in the promotion of machine picked long staple cotton never reaching expectations.
Faced with this problem, Tian Liwen's team did not shrink back. "We combed the whole process of planting and processing of long staple cotton, and systematically optimized the relevant technologies and processes such as variety selection, plant spacing configuration, pre harvest preparation, defoliation and ripening, and processing." Tian Liwen, a researcher at the Cotton Research Institute of Xinjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said, "We have put forward a complete process suitable for machining long staple cotton through innovation for the first time, and redesigned the key components of the main trash cleaning equipment and their operating parameters."
The core of this innovative plan is that, in addition to ensuring the high quality of machine picked seed cotton in the planting process and minimizing seed cotton impurities, it is also proposed that the whole process should include the seed cotton cleaning process, which uses the composite foreign fiber cleaning machine with double channels and large diameter winding roller structure, the inclined seed cotton cleaning machine and the lifting seed cotton cleaning machine; In the lint cleaning link, air flow cleaning machine and lint carding machine are selected to strictly control the impurity cleaning pass.
At the same time, the team found that the conventional zigzag gin and skin cleaner were not suitable for processing and cleaning of long staple cotton lint. Instead, the roller gin, air flow cleaner and lint carding machine should be used to prevent the mechanical damage of fibers caused by disorderly cleaning of raw cotton circulation. Through unremitting efforts, the team successfully broke through the technical bottleneck, bringing about a turnaround for the development of Xinjiang machine-made long staple cotton.
International patent licensing brings far-reaching impact
"It is of great significance that the production method of Xinjiang machine-made long staple cotton has been authorized by the United States patent." Tian Liwen said: "Previously, we have obtained a number of invention patent authorizations in China, Europe and Australia. Supported by these inventions and innovations, we have also won many gold and silver prizes in international influential invention exhibitions such as Nuremberg in Germany and Geneva in Switzerland.
