Li Jiacheng'S Most Classic Story Of Entrepreneurial Storm

    2008/8/9 0:00:00 4

From a salesperson to a general manager, "a person with a credit will have more opportunities than a person who does not have credit, laziness, spends money, and does not want to make progress."

This is Li Jiacheng's advice to young people, and his motto at the same time.

In 1940, the Japanese army invaded China. Li Jiacheng fled to Hongkong from his hometown, Chaozhou, when he was only fourteen years old.

Li Jiacheng's father was a teacher. When he arrived in Hongkong, he could not find a job at a time. He turned his whole family to his wealthy uncle.

But soon his father suffered from a serious lung disease. When he died, he did not give any last words. Instead, he asked Li Jiacheng what he wanted.

Li Jiacheng immediately promised: "in the future, the family will have a good life."

After the death of his father, Li Jiacheng, the eldest son, gave up his studies to support his family and went to work in a watch company. Later, he went to a plastic factory as a salesman.

Li Jiacheng knew well that if he wanted to be an excellent salesman, he must be diligent and flexible.

In the future career of marketing, Li Jiacheng has given full play to these "tricks".

When other colleagues work only eight hours a day, Li Jiacheng works sixteen hours a day.

Li Jiacheng's view of "working part-time" is: "I am absolutely devoted to my own work.

Never regard it as a life of making money, making a difference with the boss, but taking it as a career.

In this way, Li Jiacheng spent only one year, surpassing the other six colleagues and becoming the highest salesman in the factory.

His sales record was seven times that of the second.

At the age of eighteen, he was appreciated by his boss and promoted to department manager.

A year later, he became the general manager of a sales company.

Li Jiacheng's quick promotion also has an episode: when he is a salesperson in a factory, he will be busy at night school for further study.

After he passed the college entrance examination, he planned to go to university, and the boss promoted him to the position of the general manager simply in order to retain the talent.

After the short campaign, Li Jiacheng began to measure his strength. He believed that if he was independent, his achievements could be better.

In 1950, at the age of twenty-two, Li Jiacheng finally resigned from the position of general manager and tried to start his own business.

At that time, Li Jiacheng's funds were very limited. The savings accumulated over the past two years were only seven thousand Hong Kong dollars, which was not enough to set up factories.

He borrowed more than forty thousand yuan from his uncle Li Yiji's cousin Li Shulin, and he added his savings, with a total of 50000 Hong Kong dollars capital, and opened a factory to produce plastic toys and household goods on the Queen's Road West of Hong Kong Island. And he took Xunzi's "School of persuaded" as "the Yangtze River".

At first, Li Jiacheng only knew the orders and shipments, ignored the quality control, and made the product worse and worse.

The result is not delayed delivery time, that is, causing returns and compensation, and factory revenues plummeted.

In addition, raw materials traders came home to ask for payment, and banks continued to push back loans. The Yangtze River was pushed to the brink of bankruptcy.

This made Li Jiacheng understand that he was really in a hurry and underestimated the risk of being a boss.

How can we save the Yangtze River plastics factory?

Li Jiacheng still relies on two words: "faith", which is believed to be meaningful to employees.

He summoned the staff meeting to speak frankly about his mistakes in operation, and sincerely apologized to all the staff who stayed in the factory. He also assured that once the factory could pass through this extraordinary period, the workers who had been dismissed were welcome to return to work at any time.

After that, Li Jiacheng traveled across many banks, raw materials suppliers and customers, apologizing one by one, requesting them to relax the repayment period, and at the same time, tried their best to find customers for the goods, and sold the inferior goods at the cost of the original price, and raised money to buy Plastic materials and purchase production machines.

By 1955, the debt platform was finally demolished, business became better, and not long ago, a branch plant was opened.

One day in early 1957, Li Jiacheng read the new issue of the English version of "plastic" magazine. He came across a piece of news that a company in Italy used plastic materials to make plastic flowers and gave full play to European and American markets. This gave Li Jiacheng great inspiration.

He is acutely aware that such cheap and fine decorations have great market potential, while a large number of cheap and diligent workers in Hongkong are devoted to plastic flower production.

He predicted that plastic flowers will also become popular in Hongkong.

Li Jiacheng took the time to personally take people to Italy's plastic factory to learn art. While introducing plastic flower production technology, he also introduced foreign management methods.

After returning to Hong Kong, he renamed the Changjiang plastics factory as "Changjiang Industrial Co., Ltd.", and actively expanded the factory building to secure contracts for overseas buyers.

Among the customers of the Yangtze River, Ma Suceng, a Jewish American, ordered a batch of plastic products to be shipped to the United States, but somehow he cancelled the contract temporarily.

Li Jiacheng did not ask for compensation. He told Marx: "if there are other businesses in the future, we can build a better relationship."

Marsein deeply felt that the generous young entrepreneur was a great man. He constantly promoted the products of the Yangtze River to American experts.

Since then, American orders have been flying like snowflakes.

Li Jiacheng further realized that "loss is a blessing".

After five years of investment in real estate industry, the Yangtze River has gradually become one of the largest plastic flower factories in the world.

Li Jiacheng was called the "plastic flower king" by insiders.

And the owner of the workshop that Li Jiacheng hired also took the opportunity to raise the rent substantially, which contributed to Li Jiacheng's determination to build his own property.

In 1958, he invested in the site of King's road in North Point, and built a twelve storey Arts crafts emporium, leaving several layers of private use to rent out the remaining units.

After the completion of the building, Hongkong property prices rose rapidly.

Li Jiacheng found that real estate was promising, so he began to deploy funds to the real estate market. In the middle of 60s, Hongkong's real estate went through a frenzy of speculation.

Li Jiacheng had the eye to see that land prices would pick up again one day, and decided to implement the strategy of "people abandon me", buy land and old buildings in large quantities at low prices, and build factory buildings in Kwun Tong, Chai Wan and Wong Chuk Hang, all for rent.

In less than three years, the storm subsided, and a large number of businessmen who left Hong Kong returned home.

Li Jiacheng took the opportunity to sell the cheap purchase property to [FS:PAGE] for profit, and to pfer the buildings and land with potential for development.

This time, his strategy is to buy and sell, all of which are used to build buildings.

At the beginning of 70s, he had a total area of six million and three hundred thousand square feet, and the rental property was more than three hundred and fifty thousand square feet. The annual rent collection amounted to HK $four million.

In June 1971, Li Jiacheng formally established the "Changjiang Real Estate Co., Ltd." which is responsible for the real estate business.

In the "long" Establishment Conference, he set the goal for the future to surpass the "land" which is known as the "real estate industry king" of Hongkong.

The land company was founded by British businessman Paul huddat, together with the Hongkong head of the Jardine Pacific Company, the largest developer in Asia, and the largest commercial organization in Hong Kong.

In July 1972, Li Jiacheng changed the name "Changzhi" to Changjiang Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd., acting as chairman and general manager.

In November of this year, "Chang Shi" was listed in Hongkong and sold on the market.

Li Jiacheng encountered a lot of obstacles when he was preparing to go public in Hongkong.

At that difficult time, he was encouraged by his wife, Zhuang Yueming.

Zhuang Yueming is his cousin, four years younger than him, and two can be said to be green.

Zhuang Yueming's father, Zhuang Jingan, is a famous watchmaker in Hongkong.

After graduating from University of Hong Kong, Zhuang Yueming went to Japan Meiji University to further his studies.

Li Jiacheng married Zhuang Yueming in 1965.

The real estate industry has been doing a lot in the real estate industry.

The first is to spend about sixty million yuan on property and land, and actively build advanced residential and commercial buildings.

In 1967, another two hundred and thirty million Hong Kong dollars were used to buy US capital group, Hilton Hotel and Hyatt Regency.

And Li Jiacheng spent two and a half years, the whole process of "yellow and yellow" is like "snake eating elephants", which is a classic Chinese capital acquired by Hongkong since its opening.

"Huang Huang" is a combination of old records and Whampoa docks.

By 1980, "Chang Shi" finally held more than forty percent shares of "Huang Huang", and Li Jiacheng became chairman of "Huang Huang" board.

At this point, Li Jiacheng sat on the leading position of Hongkong China real estate, and the nickname of "Li Chao man" spread like wildfire.

In October 25th, two, October 25th, the European Parliament issued a report, accusing Li Jiacheng of Lee's family business, which is too high in the Hongkong market. It may have a dominant influence on the economy of the country and even monopolize the situation.

The report also concerns the preferential treatment of Li Jiacheng's two sons in a number of listed and takeover events, and this unfair privilege will not be conducive to foreign businessmen investing in Hongkong.

The report claims: "the family business accounts for about 1/4 to 1/3 of the capital value of the Hongkong stock market, which includes telephone, mobile phone, electricity, supermarkets and real estate."

The report also mentioned that in early two, after Li Jiacheng's second son Richard Lee won the control of Hongkong Telecom, the largest telecommunications company in Hongkong, many media in Hongkong were concerned about the growing influence of the Li family.

There are also many cases of controversy over the "Cyberport" which has not been publicly invited, as well as many conditions of exemption granted by tom.com when it listed on the gem.

The report also believes that there is a need for Hongkong to introduce a fair competition law to prevent monopoly.

Li Jiacheng, for many years, has never been attacked by such a high profile in the world. He responded to the report of the European Parliament immediately, and retorted through his long Shi group statement, pointing out that the report was not only wrong in calculation, but also that the comment of Li family's influence was more fallacious.

"Long" spokesman said that the market value of Li Jiacheng's four companies accounted for only 15% of the Hong Kong stock market, together with second son Richard Lee's "PCCW", and five companies accounted for less than 18% of the total market capitalization.

Huo Guang Wen, chief executive officer of the Hongkong stock exchange, also refutes the report, which means that tom.com is exempt from some listing conditions on the gem. It was only a flexible arrangement at that time, and the non Li family enjoyed privileges.

He also alleged that individual companies in Finland, Canada and other places accounted for a large proportion of the market value of the overall listed companies, and did not understand why the European Parliament's report only referred to Hongkong without mentioning other places.

The Hong Kong government also strongly denied any bias towards Li Jia in the Cyberport incident or tom.com listing.

Is the market share high or equal to monopoly?

Ceng Manji, a professor of economics at Baptist University, a member of the Hong Kong government's fair competition committee, points out that high market share does not necessarily mean monopoly.

Monopoly is determined by the company's behavior, such as restrictive practices in the industry, pricing jointly or limiting supply.

When the controversy continued, Li Jiacheng was further warned by the European Commission that the "Yellow Sea International Port" might violate the EU competition law in 1999 when it bought the European Union Terminal in Rotterdam, and stressed that if the facts were confirmed, the merger and merger may be cancelled, and "Huang Huang" should face fines.

It is reported that the reason of the European Commission is that the business plan has not been informed, and the paction may violate the merger Ordinance.

It is rare for the European Commission to track down an unannounced business combination plan.

"Huang Huang international port" issued a statement immediately, denying that there was any violation of the Ordinance.

The European Parliament made such a high-profile call to Li Jiacheng, which led to many conjectures.

Ceng Yuancang, a famous economist in Hongkong, commented in the Hongkong Economic Daily that the European Parliament suddenly took charge of Hongkong's economy. This is mainly because European businessmen have begun to feel uneasy about Li Jiacheng's commercial empire entering Europe, because many European businessmen have already tasted the taste of Li Jiacheng's failure.

He pointed out in his article: "millions of Europeans are already using the" yellow "Europe's telecommunications services.

"Huang Huang" sells Orange, a mobile phone company in the UK, earning HK $one hundred and ten billion.

Later, "Huang Huang" sold some shares of MMN Telecom (Germany's largest mobile phone operator) and Vodafone (one of the world's largest Cell Phone Corps), not only getting nearly 100 billion Hong Kong dollars in cash, but also a sensation throughout Europe.

European businessmen really understand that a businessman from Hongkong, Li Jiacheng, is a strong competitor to [FS:PAGE].

They began to fear Li Jiacheng because they were not rivals for Li Jiacheng.

Li Jiacheng said, "from the beginning of selling Orange, he fought more battles in every battle."
