Textile Industry: Seize Opportunities To Achieve Sustainable Development
Export data in the first quarter made the textile industry worried about the export of textile and clothing this year.

According to customs statistics, the growth of textile and clothing exports increased by 18.9% last year. However, from 1 to February this year, China's textile and garment exports increased by US $16 billion 440 million, but increased by only 5.7%.
As the largest province of textile and clothing exports, Guangdong's textile and clothing exports decreased by 11.3% compared with the same period last year, especially for US exports, and the US exports in the first two months of this year dropped by 27.9% over the same period last year.

What is even more worrying is that the slowdown in textile export growth this year seems unlikely to change.
The first reason is the subprime crisis.
The United States is the largest consumer of textile and clothing in the world, and is also one of the largest export markets for textiles and clothing in China.
This year the US economy is slowing down and consumer spending in the United States is decreasing.
According to China Customs statistics, the total export volume of China's textile and apparel exports decreased significantly in January of this year compared with the same period last year.
Two, last year, China promulgated a number of foreign trade regulation policies, and the effect of these policies will be gradually displayed this year.
Three, the pace of RMB appreciation is accelerating.
Affected by this, the profit margins of textile enterprises are decreasing, orders are reduced, competitiveness is weakened, and the risks of export enterprises are increasing.
The textile industry is a pillar industry of China's national economy. It plays an irreplaceable role in the development of our national economy in the first 20 years of this century.
Although our textile industry has made some achievements, frankly speaking, China's textiles have exposed some shortcomings at the same time of achieving rapid development: first, the low added value of products and the lack of independent brands.
According to the survey data of China Textile Import and export chamber, the average profit margin of China's textile export enterprises is only 3% to 5%.
In addition, China's textile exports mainly depend on licensing and OEM, and processing trade accounts for nearly 30%, while independent brands account for only about 10%, and enterprises only earn 10% of processing fees.
The two is the concentration of export markets.
In recent years, the European Union, the United States and Japan have been the main export markets of China's textiles, accounting for more than 40% of China's textile exports.
In Japan, textile market share has been maintained at over 70%, and has been saturated.
The three is the weakening of labor cost advantage.
Abundant labor resources constitute the main source of China's textile industry's competitive advantage, but this advantage is weakening compared with some developing countries.
According to the global comparison report on the labor cost of the world's major textile industry released in 2007 according to the global fiber management consultancy (Werner), labor costs in China's coastal areas have been expanding rapidly, approaching the threshold of US $1 per hour.
According to official statistics from Vietnam, Kampuchea, Bangladesh and Indonesia, the domestic labor costs of the textile industry are 0.29 US dollars per hour, US $0.36, US $0.22 and US $0.36 respectively.
This shows that developing countries are gradually becoming China's strongest competitors in low value-added products.
These problems deserve our attention and proper response.
It is an important way for China's textile enterprises to break through the international market competition to improve the contribution rate of science and technology and take the branding way.
On the one hand, we should master the core production technology: developing super high strength, high temperature resistant, wear-resistant and other special functional fibers with high added value, and improving production capacity and product quality.
On the other hand, enterprises should try their best to produce export products, push forward brand strategy, attach importance to developing their own brands and enhance their value.
In the coming period, the pformation of our country from a textile power to a textile power is the goal of China's textile industry.
First, increase the intensity of industrial restructuring.
We will continue to promote textile technology and equipment innovation, develop energy saving, differentiation and environmental protection products, and gradually improve industrial technology content, resource utilization efficiency, environmental quality and labor productivity. Two, we must cultivate independent brands with international influence.
Adhere to independent innovation, strengthen intellectual property and brand protection awareness, brand design, technology research and development, marketing network construction of superior enterprises can gradually establish and expand international marketing channels, improve the export proportion of private brand products; the three is to actively promote the international operation of textile enterprises.
Qualified textile enterprises should "go out", make full use of two kinds of resources and two markets at home and abroad, improve the control of the consumer market, improve the distribution of China's textile industry in the global value chain, and four, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with other countries.
Actively participate in the international top clothing exhibition and international textile industry exchange activities, through learning international advanced design, marketing, management concept, narrowing the gap with the international advanced level; five is to improve the quality of human resources in the industry.
We should establish and improve a scientific and rational system for the management and development of human resources, improve the personnel system and incentive mechanism, attach importance to the cultivation of technological innovative talents and compound talents, and create a better development environment for the growth of high-quality talents in the industry.
Needless to say, in today's economic globalization, simple quantitative growth is no longer the goal pursued by China's textile exports. It is our development direction to seize the opportunity of integration and realize the sustainable development of textile exports.
