In February This Year, The Proportion Of Pakistan'S Textile Exports Dropped To 48.6%

According to the well-informed sources of Pakistan's Federal Ministry of textiles, the proportion of Pakistan's textile exports in the total scale of exports in February 2008 dropped to 48.6%, compared to 64.5% in February 2007.

He said that the government's export target was $19 billion 200 million in 2007-08, and the proportion of textile exports in the total export volume of the whole country showed a downward trend, indicating that Pakistan's export targets might not be completed.

From February 2007 to February July, textile exports reached US $6 billion 400 million, compared with exports of US $6 billion 700 million in July and February 2006.

The annual ratio dropped by 4%.

From February 2007 to February 2008, the export of man-made fibres was US $300 million, compared with the export of US $200 million in the same period last year.

According to rough assessment, Pakistan's production cost is 12% higher than that of the regional competitive countries.

He said that the government believed that it had provided long-term and adequate support to the textile industry, and that the textile industry should develop in the international market. However, the textile industry did not expand its export because of its own shortcomings.

On the other hand, textile associations and other organizations point out that Pakistan's government agencies do not provide help to the textile industry as other governments do.
