Fengjing Town, Jinshan District, Shanghai: Thirty Years Of Great Change, Rising Textile Town
Fengjing town, Jinshan District, Shanghai, is a typical ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River. It has a history of more than 1500 years.
Fengjing is located in the border between ancient Wu and Yue. It has two towns in the north and the south in history. The South Town is under the jurisdiction of Jiaxing, Zhejiang, and Beizhen is under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu and Songjiang. It was not until 1951 that it merged into a town. It is a veritable Wu Yue town.
In the past 30 years since reform and opening up, Fengjing town has developed from a town built with only 2.5 square kilometers and more than 10 thousand inhabitants to two square administrative divisions and 91.66 square kilometers of administrative area.
In 2007, the town completed 3 billion 920 million yuan in gross domestic product, 1 billion 41 million yuan in total fiscal revenue, and 17 billion 200 million yuan in gross industrial output value, and initially formed four leading industries, namely, textile and garment and textile machinery, automobile and automobile spare parts, stainless steel products and yellow rice wine making.
Textile, clothing and textile machinery are traditional industries of Fengjing.
In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the weaving industry was very developed. It was said that "Wei Tong Tang could not be bought, and the Fengjing cloth could not be bought."
In recent years, the government of Fengjing town has increased support, and the Shanghai textile industrial zone was established in May 2003.
In 2006, the park was named "Shanghai textile characteristic industry demonstration park".
