Increase In Manufacturing Output In Philippines

According to the statistics of Philippines National Bureau of statistics, the output of Philippines's manufacturing industry decreased by 5.9% in March compared with the same period last year due to the sluggish foreign market and domestic demand. In the first quarter of this year, the output of Philippines's manufacturing industry increased by only 0.5 percentage points.

Compared with last year, the decline in output was larger in textile 18.2%, non electric machinery 44.2%, furniture 29%, tobacco products 21.2%, and food 12.6%; output increased by 49.9% in leather, 44.8% in footwear and clothing, 2.8% in beverages, 8.2% in wood and wood products.
