Garment Industry Needs To Wait For Post Olympic Games In Spring

Not long ago, interviews with garment enterprises in various industrial clusters also showed that most of the enterprises surveyed were not concerned about the Olympic Games. Some industry organizations also expressed the view that the Olympics had little impact on the industry.

Premier Wen Jiabao at the beginning of the year worried that this year could be the most difficult year for China's economy.
Judging from the clothing industry, the industry estimates that this year is the most difficult year for textile and clothing exports in the past 10 years. This has also been verified: the profits of the industry have dropped sharply, and tens of thousands of enterprises in the Pearl River Delta have been closed down.
The Olympic Games will undoubtedly bring new opportunities to the winter garment industry. However, a survey just released shows that most garment enterprises are not optimistic about the direct benefits of the Olympic Games.
This has already come to light in Beijing: because the security measures have been strengthened, the passenger flow to Beijing has been obviously blocked, the supply of goods has been suppressed, and many shopping malls have fewer customers than usual. Even the price of rents around the Olympic venues has fallen sharply.
Liu Ruiqi, chairman of the Olympic sponsor, Heng Yuan Xiang, has said that the sponsorship of the Olympic Games is mainly a learning opportunity.
He believes that the Olympic organization itself is a strong brand, it has many operational rules, regulations, methods, can learn from.
Heng Yuan Xiang's attitude is praiseworthy.
After all, for a developing country, we need to be calm and rational for the winter clothing industry.
If the Olympic Games are compared to an easterly wind, then for the clothing industry, spring is still far from coming, but hope has begun to sprout: the export tax rebate will increase; next year, the United States will abolish the textile export quota; because of the economic and political problems in Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam and Kampuchea, some of the textile and clothing orders from the mainland to Southeast Asia last year may return to China in the second half of the year. The new labor contract law implemented this year and the difficulties brought by the "environmental storm" to the textile enterprises have gradually been on the right track after the initial adjustment.
As Du Yuzhou, President of the China Textile Industry Association recently said, "we are still a long way from the textile power."
However, the road we have taken has strengthened our confidence.
