Exports Of Textiles And Clothing Fell In Macao In July 2008.

Domestic exports dropped by 23.7% to 1 billion 20 million in Macao, but the re export increased by 11.2% to 694 million Macao dollars.

Merchandise imports totaled 4 billion 120 million Macao dollar, up 11.4% over the same period last year.

In July 2008, the trade deficit reached 2 billion 510 million Macao dollar.

From January 2008 to July, total merchandise exports decreased by 11.2% compared to the same period last year, to 10 billion 140 million Macao coins, and domestic exports and re exports decreased by 13.9% and 6.1% respectively.

In addition, total merchandise imports increased by 7.6% to 26 billion 670 million Macao coins, and the total trade deficit in the first 7 months of this year widened to 15 billion 420 million Macao coins.

The export / import rate dropped from 48.1% in the first 7 months of 2007 to 39.7% in the same period in 2008.

In addition, exports of non textiles increased slightly by 0.7%, and exports of machinery and accessories, accessories and footwear decreased by 50.9% and 60.4% respectively.

Imports from mainland China and Hongkong amounted to 13 billion 80 million Macao coins, accounting for 51.1% of Macao's total imports.

Imports of consumer goods expanded by 25.3% over the same period last year, but raw materials, semi manufactured goods and capital goods decreased by 16% and 1.6% respectively.
