The exhibition started in 1997, held two times a year, once in March, and once in September. It has been successfully held for the 19 time. The exhibition is held at the CNR EXPO Convention and Exhibition Center in Istanbul, the largest exhibition center in Turkey. Its location is superior, with more than 60 exhibitions held annually.

Turkey is a major textile / garment producer and exporter in the world. The textile and garment industry has many advantages, such as the diversity of design and color, quick response, timely delivery, and the retailer keeps less stock and good manufacturing processes. Turkey is also the seventh largest cotton producer in the world, and cotton is still the most important raw material of its textile sector. The nineteenth Texgate was held in from March 9 to 11, 2006 with a professional audience of 17798.

Over 1000 foreign audiences came from the European Union, the Middle East, Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States and North Africa.
