Torch To Beijing Route To Sichuan To Hold The Last Stick

China changed the route of the Olympic torch relay and made the earthquake stricken Sichuan province become the last stop before the torch relay entered Beijing.

The Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee said that due to serious damage to some of the roads in Sichuan, it was decided that the delivery time of Sichuan should be adjusted before the pfer to Beijing, from from June 15th to 18th to from August 3rd to 5th.

The Organizing Committee stressed that the Olympic torch relay activities should be closely integrated with the earthquake relief work. In the pmission activities, we should highlight the theme of "delivering the sacred fire and offering love and care", pforming the Olympic torch relay into a relay of love, further supporting the national earthquake relief work, and highlighting the concept of "Humanistic Olympics".

The authorities originally planned to send the flame to Tangshan in August 3rd, which was once a major earthquake in 1976, and then to Tianjin from Beijing.

The OCOG did not say how the adjustment would affect other pmission stations.
