Chongqing Makes Efforts To Build Export Base For Shoes Industry

In December 30, 2007, the Municipal Foreign Trade and Economic Commission and the Tongliang County People's government signed a memorandum of understanding on the "Chongqing footwear export base". In May 18, 2008, the Municipal Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Commission and the Bishan County People's government signed a memorandum of understanding on the "Chongqing footwear export base".

At this point, two counties in Bishan and Tongliang began to focus on building Chongqing's shoe export base.

Through 3 years' efforts (i.e. to 2010), we strive to build the "Chongqing shoe export base" into a Chongqing footwear export processing base focusing on product export, including shoe production, R & D, logistics, shoe matching, quality testing and so on.

The shoe export processing base will introduce 400 newly introduced enterprises, with more than 200 million pairs of leather shoes each year, and the output value of the new footwear industry is more than 3 billion yuan. Among them, footwear exports in 2008 amounted to $6 million, and in 2009 it was exported to 10 million US dollars, and footwear exports in 2010 amounted to 50 million US dollars.

We should strive to build the "Chongqing shoe export base" into the largest production scale, the strongest R & D capability and the most complete supporting production and export base in Western China.
