    Research On Application Technology Of PU Leather Finishing Waterborne Materials

    After more than 3 years of hard work, the research project of "PU leather finishing waterborne material application technology" jointly undertaken by Sichuan University and Lishui Qili leather decoration company has been accepted by the expert group.

    The advantage of this project is that it can replace or replace most solvent materials with water-borne materials, which can reduce organic solvent emissions by more than 80%, and technical indicators have reached or exceeded the standard of synthetic leather produced by solvent based materials.



    "The output of PU leather in the waterge industrial zone is estimated to be 2 million meters per day."

    Wang Chunneng, senior engineer of the Municipal Economic and Technological Development Zone, told reporters that the success of the project means that the synthetic leather industry has achieved a major breakthrough.



    Over the past 3 years, the quality of synthetic leather produced by water-borne materials has reached or exceeded the existing standard of synthetic leather.

    Especially the breathable, moisture resistant, cold resistant, heat-resistant, wear resistant, scratch resistant, adhesive strength, touch and so on are closer to the genuine leather, and are the upgrading products of the traditional synthetic leather.

    In comparison with the cost, the water-based material is equivalent to the solvent type material in the part of the material used, but the drying temperature of the waterborne material is lower, the drying time is equivalent, and the equipment is basically not needed to be reformed, so the comprehensive cost of waterborne material is lower.



    "The traditional finishing equipment can basically meet the requirements of water material finishing, and will not substantially increase the investment in tannery equipment."

    In more than a year's practice, Liu Aimin, general manager of Qili leather decorations, felt that compared with the traditional finishing methods, the substitution of water-borne materials or the substitution of solvent materials for different styles and types of PU leather is not only entirely feasible, but also has obvious advantages.



    Wang Chunneng said that the process of using water-based materials is simple. In general, the engineers of synthetic leather enterprises can master the technology if they only have a little training.

    The use of water-based materials can effectively eliminate the volatilization of organic waste gas and save resources.



    In the identification data, the expert group considered that the performance of PU leather made of water-based materials is generally better than that of PU leather made from traditional oil-based materials.

    Moreover, synthetic leather prepared from water-based materials is expected to be the EU's "eco synthetic leather" qualification, which can lay the foundation for the development of foreign market for synthetic leather.
