Exports Of Leather Garments And Fur Garments Fell By 11% In May

According to the latest statistics of customs, the export of textiles and garments to the EU in May 2008 was US $2 billion 987 million, an increase of 17.82% over April, representing an increase of 51.33% over the same period last year.

Textile exports amounted to US $741 million, a decrease of 7.36%, an increase of 28.89% over the previous year, accounting for about 24.80% of the total exports of the EU, and clothing exports amounted to US $2 billion 246 million, an increase of 29.42%, an increase of 60.55% over the previous year, accounting for about 75.20% of the total export volume of the EU.

In May, China's textile exports to the EU as a whole showed a downward trend, mainly due to the negative growth of exports of finished goods and fabrics, of which the export volume of manufactured goods was 384 million US dollars, a decrease of 10.89%, which accounted for 12.86% of the total export volume of the EU's textile and apparel products. The export of each category was only slightly increased by 0.24% compared with that of the carpet export, and the other products were shrinking in different ranges, of which the other finished products decreased by 21.89% compared with the other products, with a decrease of -8.07% in the range of no textiles.

Exports of fabrics were only $257 million this month, down 1.47% from last month, and the proportion is still less than 1.5%.

The main varieties of chemical fiber woven fabrics showed a trend of increase in price and volume, and their export amount reached 115 million US dollars, an increase of 11.54% over the same period, ranking the first among all kinds of export fabrics. The export volume of wool and animal hair machine fabrics decreased significantly this month, falling to -19.90%, but its export unit price rose sharply, rising by 30.84%, much higher than that of other kinds of textile products.

Yarn is the only export textile that is growing this month. Its export volume is 99 million US dollars, and the ring ratio is slightly increased by 1.07%, accounting for about 3.33%.

Chemical fiber yarn is the main export variety, export volume decreased slightly by 0.02% last month, but export unit price rose 0.94%. The price of other yarn varieties has declined, of which wool and animal wool yarn decreased by -5.54%.

Due to factors such as the cancellation of European quota, China's clothing exports to the EU continued to grow substantially in May, except for a few sub categories.

The export volume of tatting garments reached US $1 billion 83 million, an increase of 21.27%, an increase of 36.26%, and the export amount of knitted garments was US $880 million, the annulus growth was 44.74%, the proportion was 29.47%, and the export of fur leather garments was 36 million US dollars, the increase was 144.60%, which accounted for 1.19%.

This month, the export volume of wool knitted apparel increased by 254.22%, the export amount was increased by 320.90%, the fastest increase in all export garments and the increase of the average export price were 18.83% compared with the last month. From the change of export univalent, this month the price of the woven fabric garments was obviously slipped, the ring fell by -22.93%, the leather clothing and fur clothing fell 1.75%, 11.56% respectively, the other categories of univalent prices were higher than last month, and the silk knitted garments were up 89.18%, the increase of chemical fiber, other materials made of knitted garments was 30%, and the cotton knitted garments were also up to 24.44%.

Compared with the same period last year, the export prices of woven garments were much lower than that of the same period last year. The wool woven garments decreased by -13.22% compared with that of the same period last year. The woven fabrics made of chemical fiber woven fabrics and other materials were -4.26% and -1.08% respectively. In addition, the price of wool knitted garments decreased by 2.74% compared with the same period last year.
