How To Enter Mainstream Groups In The Company

    2007/11/21 15:37:00 41681

It is not easy for anyone to succeed in a career, because it is a cruel world, full of competition.

No wonder there are so many books and articles about career development. There are so many experts who advise you how to behave in the professional field.

But these books and speeches always leave a puzzling puzzle of Occupation: how to overcome a special obstacle to reach the other side of success.

This obstacle is usually a big problem, because it is entirely different from the mainstream group in your career because of your being an outsider.

These differences can be expressed in many ways, such as race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, age or language.

Although there are indeed "glass ceilings" in many enterprises and some even made of tempered glass, you still have the potential to succeed.

The following seven strategies and techniques are recommended to help you achieve your goals.

1, first of all, reflect on yourself.

Do not assume that everyone is hostile because of your past or other unhappy experiences.

Make specific judgments based on the new situation.

Judge Faith Hochberg is the first woman judge in the New Jersey District Court in Hodge Berg.

When asked whether she had been hostile in her career,

    "No, I don't have one."

    She said.

"In fact, I always imagine from the opposite side until hostility disappears on my face.

Only after hindsight can I realize some hostility.

I never get entangled in trivial details.

    2.

Making friends, establishing social circles and seeking guidance from older generations are basic occupational skills for everyone. But if you are an outsider, these are particularly important. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to do so.

Finally, successful outsiders feel that you must let mainstream culture get along with you.

You have to put aside your own shelf, confidently participate in social activities, and accept suggestions from people who are friendly to you.

3, emphasize positive and positive things.

You must have the skills and knowledge to succeed.

    That's why you were hired.

But if you are not a member of the mainstream group, you have to have some extra qualities.

    Try the following methods:

Know the latest trends in your field and try to apply them to your current job or the job you want to do.

Dare to take risks and make bold decisions.

Seize every opportunity to mobilize or be assigned to the first line of work that is directly related to the company's goals, and enhance your written and oral expression.

Recognize the power of your cultural background.

4, be good at expressing yourself.

Let the company know what you can do.

Even if you are an extraordinary person, you should not expect to be discovered or recognized by others.

In order to make progress, you have to let people know who you are and what you have done.

Taciturn, strict in authority, unwilling to listen to advice, afraid to "get ahead" and unable to get along with mainstream groups. If you want to make yourself more attractive, all of these may be the cultural barriers you must overcome.

5, be good at accepting, not sacrificing.

Adapt your culture to company culture.

You must understand the difference between "acceptance" and "sacrifice" if you want to become an insider from the outsider and truly treat yourself.

    You have to do that:

Recognize which cultural characteristics you can't give up and what you are willing to adapt to the company culture.

Do not regard every change or adjustment made for company culture as abandonment or concession, but as a way to adapt to the new environment.

Don't let other people in your group draw conclusions about where to draw a line.

You have to make your own decisions.

If a company discriminating against your culture, if the company's values conflict directly with your culture, if your current position is not enough to fully display your talents, then if you stay, you may be making sacrifices.

    6, know your own rights.

If you think you are being treated unfairly, what should you do?

You can try to solve problems yourself.

Or you can help with the program made by the company or with the allies.

The staff of the human resources department, the personnel department and the diversified and equal employment opportunities department should stand in your shoes and speak for you.

If you encounter illegal discrimination, you may consider taking legal action.

The law will protect your rights and interests, and compensate you for unfair treatment of race, sex, nationality, age, pregnancy or disability.

Before you take legal measures, you must carefully consider the price you will pay mentally, career and financially.

    Another option is to resign.

Find another way to find a job that is more suitable for you in terms of corporate culture.

If resignation costs more than staying, then adjust your mindset and continue to work.

7, we must have foresight and make plans for it.

Some people think that the coming will come, and their talents will ensure their success.

    You have to do more.

If you want to make a difference, besides your current skills, you have to act more vigorously for your own interests.

In order to promote your plan, you have to write down your goals for the next 10 years.

Then the important work begins, that is, action, plan and reality.
