    The application of JSR RB in TPR soles is known to all. SBS is widely used on TPR soles. However, due to its defects such as surface rhyming, it is necessary to make surface spraying processes.

    JSR RB, as a modified material for SBS sole, does not require spraying process (reduce environmental pollution, reduce comprehensive production cost, etc.) and further improve the physical and mechanical properties of SBS soles. It has been widely applied in Europe, especially in Italy and South American shoemaking industry.

    In recent years, with the development of China's shoemaking industry, the demand for RB in the Chinese market has also increased significantly.

    The effect of adding RB to TPR soles will be further explained below.

    What is JSR RB?

    Unlike traditional rubber material, BR, which has different molecular structure as polybutadiene, JSR RB is a thermoplastic elastomer with both rubber properties and plastic workability. The molecular structure is a syndiotactic poly 1,2- butadiene with a 1,2 double bond structure of 90% (as shown in Fig. 1). Its molecular weight is about 120 thousand, and its crystallinity is 15-35%. 1,4-

    JSR RB is widely used in packaging films, medical infusion tubes, sponge foam products and modified SBS (TPR) soles and other products.

    JSR RB product brand and basic physical properties are shown in Table 1.

    The use of JSR RB as SBS modified material for SBS sole modification materials has many advantages, such as spray free and excellent physical and mechanical properties mentioned above, as follows:

    The improvement of the appearance of shoe sole, generally speaking, the SBS soles without RB are rough and uneven in the surface after injection, and are accompanied by defects such as rhyoles.

    As shown in Fig. 2, if a part of RB is mixed in SBS pellet, the surface after forming will be greatly improved, and the uniform matte surface and the appearance similar to the rubber sole can be obtained, as shown in Figure 3.

    As a modified material for SBS sole, adding RB can improve the fluidity of SBS compound in the mold, thereby improving the replicability of the mold and making the sole with high quality appearance.

    In general, when RB is added to more than 25%, it can be made into SBS sole with mirror effect. If matte effect is required, RB is at least more than 15%, as shown in Figure 4.

    By further adjusting the proportion of the RB and the design of the mold, it can be made into the sole style with the effect of mirror and dumb light.

    The addition of RB in SBS pellets can improve the appearance of TPR soles and improve other physical and chemical properties, as shown in Figure 5.

    The other advantages of RB/SBS mixture include adding a certain amount of RB to SBS. Besides improving the appearance and physical and chemical properties of TPR soles, there are other advantages as follows: (1) without spraying, the comprehensive cost of shoemaking production technology can be reduced; second, avoid using harmful solvents in traditional spraying process, which is beneficial to environmental protection.

    Inadequate and solution. The wear resistance of RB/SBS mixture is slightly worse. This is the only disadvantage, but it can be improved by changing the formula.

    (1) reduce the usage of inorganic fillers (light calcium and so on) and softening oil; second, reduce the dosage of polystyrene (PS); (3) use SBS with low styrene content; (4) use non oil filled brand SBS; (5) use JSR RB840 instead of RB830 in the recommended formula.

    Formula and performance table 2 lists common recipes and functions of RB/SBS mixture for TPR soles, and table 3 lists the different proportions of JSR RB and their physical and chemical properties.

    The data showed that after adding JSR RB830, the physical properties (tensile strength, etc.) and chemical properties (ozone resistance) of the SBS pellets and the appearance of the samples were improved. When the JSR RB840 was blended with the specific SBS, the abrasion resistance and other physical properties were better than those of SBS grains without RB addition.

    It needs to be explained that the formula provided in this paper is more suitable for the shoe sole injection molding machine in Italy, and the effect is better.

    However, if the disc type injection machine is adopted, the relevant formulation and technological conditions need to be adjusted.
