Special Thermoplastic Elastomers Should Be Used In Roller Skates.
The largest roller skating manufacturer in the United States did not use other materials while producing skating shoes, and chose a special olefin thermoplastic elastomer with processing and performance advantages.
At first, the support gasket was made of thermosetting natural rubber. However, the rubber is expensive and the processing is very complicated. Therefore, a few years ago, Sure-GripInternational, located in SouthGate, California, turned to thermoplastic polyurethanes and applied to support gaskets. Thermoplastic polyurethanes are very good, but the continuing cost pressures from Asian skates manufacturers force Sure-Grip to consider using cheaper and easier casting materials. After testing other materials, Sure-Grip chose to come from Wilmington, Delaware.
AdvancedPolymerAlloys Alcryn hot melt rubber (Melt-ProcessibleRubber). AlcrynMPR is a partially crosslinked chlorinated polyolefin. The rubber is very easy to machine. The appearance of Alcryn products is more beautiful and its performance is closer to the rubber standard.
