The textile and Clothing Institute of Guangzhou University was originally a Textile College of Guangzhou Associated University. It was approved by the Ministry of education in 2000 7 and merged into the new Guangzhou University to become an independent two grade college under the new Guangzhou University.

In the 30 years since its founding, tens of thousands of senior professionals in textile and clothing have been trained for the country. Many of them have become the leading cadres, managerial personnel and technical backbone of textile and garment enterprises in provinces and municipalities, and have made due contributions to the local economic prosperity and social development.

The Institute has CAD application development research center, multimedia computer center, audio-visual teaching center, computer color matching system, model training room, photographic creation room, accounting simulation room, language lab, electrical and electronic, dyeing and finishing equipment, more than 20 advanced equipment, complete laboratory and 11 major workshops, such as clothing, electrician, electronics and so on. It has established the largest three-dimensional human body database in cooperation with the French TPC Institute, and has established teaching practice (fixed point) bases in some enterprises and institutions.
