    European Lingerie Chain Accounts For 20% Of The Overall Underwear Consumption.

    Valerie Lemant, President of the lingerie department, will share with the industry and the media the latest data from the Asian underwear market survey and the underwear market prospects in the coming year.


    According to the French Fashion Institute's 2009 survey of women's underwear, the economic downturn has only a slight effect on the underwear market.

    In France, the average underwear consumption recorded a slight drop of 1.3%; in the fourth quarter of 2009, four of the ten underwear purchased by consumers were purchased during the price reduction period.


    In the two emerging markets of China and India, the economic downturn has also had a slight impact on the underwear retailing industry. But thanks to the growth of the advanced brand market, the whole underwear market soon revived.

    Maybe we can look at it from another angle: when the price of each consumer product is high, buying underwear will become a little pleasure for ladies.


    The development of mature underwear market is very competitive. Taking France as an example, underwear brand has begun to use the Internet as a new sales point to expand its customers.

    In addition, the number of specialized chain stores is also increasing. Sales account for 20.2% of the total underwear consumption.

    The major department stores not only refurbished the lingerie department, but also increased the brand of senior and designer.


    In India, the high-end underwear market, which is mainly made up of foreign brands, is expanding. These brands are mostly sold in chain stores or department stores.

    China's underwear market is also growing rapidly.

    Although most of the famous local underwear brands have established a wide range of retail networks across the country, department stores are still the most popular places for consumers to buy underwear.
