Electric Bicycle Standards Or &Nbsp Will Be Introduced; Where Is The Way Out For The 2000 Car Companies?

    2010/4/26 15:16:00 19

    Enterprise

All the electric vehicle manufacturers are facing great challenges. The test is not from the shrinking of the market, but from the industry standard of vital importance.

By the end of 2009, the national standard management committee announced the general technical conditions of electric motorcycles and electric mopeds (hereinafter referred to as "technical conditions"). If the electric non motor vehicles and electric motor cars are divided according to this standard, 95% of the 120 million electric vehicles owned by the country will be classified as motor vehicles because they do not meet the standards of non motorized vehicles.

As a result, the huge electric bicycle market will face the risk of sudden shrinkage. Therefore, technical conditions have been postponed under the strong demand of many manufacturers and China Bicycle Association.

However, the industry believes that this standard will eventually be released before the end of 2010, the policy orientation of energy conservation and emission reduction is basically determined, and the test of the industry is just around the corner.

    Standard dispute

According to Ni Jie, chairman of Zhejiang Luyuan Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd., the emergence of electric bicycles in China is only a dozen years ago.

13 years ago, there were only 5 enterprises producing electric bicycles in China, and the annual output of electric bicycles was no more than 10 thousand.

In 2005, the scale of the market reached 9 million vehicles, and in 2009, there were more than 21 million vehicles, and there were more than 2000 manufacturing enterprises, and the number of employees in the service industry reached millions.

On the market side, big cities such as Beijing and Shanghai have become important markets for electric bicycles.

Zhao Guotong, honorary president of Shanghai bicycle association and counselor of Shanghai municipal government, said that at present, there are about 8000000 bicycles in Shanghai. Electric bicycles account for nearly 1/3, or about 2000000, and electric vehicles have become the most important choice for Shanghai residents.

There are more than 120 million electric bicycles nationwide, with a total output value of more than 200 billion yuan.

As early as 1999, the state formulated the electric bicycle industry standard, stipulating that the maximum speed of electric bicycles should not exceed 20 kilometers, the vehicle quality should not exceed 40 kilograms, and the mileage of a single charging can not be less than 25 kilometers, and it has pedal function.

According to the relevant regulations of the state, electric bicycles conforming to the standard belong to non motorized vehicles. When driving, they do not need to study motor vehicle driving licenses.

However, the standard has not been strictly implemented since its establishment.

The technical conditions formulated at the end of 2009 strictly stipulate that electric vehicles with speed exceeding 20 km and quality exceeding 40 kg will be included in vehicle serial management.

An electric car industry person analyzed the background of the "technical conditions". Because electric bicycle has been sold as a non motorized vehicle and sold together with bicycles, it is not as strict as motorcycles. At the same time, driving electric bicycles can avoid the cost of driving license and motor vehicle license, so the rapid development of the industry has hit the motorcycle manufacturing industry.

The formulation of "technical conditions" is the "killer" of motorcycle industry to curb the electric vehicle industry.

It is understood that technical conditions are formulated by the National Automotive Standardization Committee under the China Automotive Technology Research Center. The electric vehicle manufacturers and experts in the industry all reflect that they have not been asked for their opinions.

If implemented according to this standard, 95% of the 120 million electric bicycles in the country will be required to apply for motor vehicle licences. The whole electric bicycle industry is in an uproar and will raise objections to the standards.

    Electric vehicle paradox

Disputes are concentrated in many aspects, first of all, speed standards.

Because of the needs of the market, the speed of electric bicycles is generally over 20 km / h.

"The speed of 20 kilometers is not as fast as that of a bicycle. Who will buy it?" Ni Jie asked. He also said that the standards in 1999 had been seriously lagged behind.

    Next is vehicle quality.

The weight of electric vehicles is limited by the weight of batteries and motors. It is difficult to reduce the quality of electric vehicles to less than 40 kilograms before the lithium battery is fully matured and rapidly promoted.

Most electric vehicles use lead-acid batteries, which are divided into 36 volts and 48 volts according to the number of batteries.

"Generally, an electric bicycle needs three or four batteries, and a lead-acid battery weighs 4.7 kilograms, plus the weight of the motor, at least more than 20 kilograms."

Tan Bo, director of R & D center of Tianjin City Wind Electric Vehicle Co. Ltd., broke the weight by analyzing fingers. If we want to reach the standard of weight, we can only make articles on the frame without using iron frame and changing to lighter alloy.

In fact, driven by demand, the whole industry of electric bicycles is caught in a paradox.

First of all, with speed, consumers demand that the sooner the better, the 20 kilometer is far from what they want.

In front of an electric wind car store in Huangcun, Daxing District, Beijing, a consumer is asking for speed: "more than 20 kilometers an hour?" after he got a positive answer, he asked, "can we hurry up? Can we have 30 to 40 kilometers?" but, because the electric motor car is a non motorized vehicle, driving on a non motorized lane, the high speed will inevitably bring unsafe factors.

    Noise is even a problem.

Ni Jie recalled that the electric cars in the early days had been complained about the noise, but now there is no noise but it may become a defect.

"An electric vehicle weighing more than 50 kilograms will drive on the bicycle lane at a speed of more than 40 kilometers per hour, or suddenly turn around without any sound or sign. Can you say that it is harmless to other bicycles or pedestrians?" a traffic expert asked.

For this reason, Zhao Guotong, who strongly supports the electric vehicle industry, believes that the speed limit and downsizing of electric bicycles must be taken by the industry.

Losing weight means reducing weight and volume.

But Ni Jie believes that consumers are clearly more willing to choose heavier, bigger cars, which is the market choice.

"Do you say you will choose a bigger, more comfortable sofa seat, or choose a small stool? Even if it is not comfortable, the beautiful car is better.

In terms of lighten the weight, the electric vehicle industry also has the controversy and the market demand paradox.

    "High and light new"

Although the relevant standards of electric motorcycles are suspended in the strong opposition of the electric bicycle industry, the shock brought by this standard to the industry is enormous.

Guo Xianding's "Sheng Mao Che world" electric bicycle store sells only two brands of jhma and Fujita.

Despite the fact that the famous brand cars are better sold, Guo Xianding is still looking at the car while he looks grim. "It may be hard to do this year, but it will be even harder to sell it," he said.

The reason is that he believes that the impact of the "standard events" in 2009 on consumers should not be underestimated.

After all, if electric bicycles are required to license, consumers will have to spend more than 1000 yuan to get the license fees.

In addition, the unprecedented fierce competition in the industry is also a reason.

The number of electric bicycle sales in the country rapidly increased to more than 20 million vehicles in 2007, but it has stagnated. Sales volume has been hovering in 20 million vehicles.

In this industry, there are more than 2000 large and small manufacturers, plus manufacturers of main components such as upstream motors, batteries, controllers, frames, and more than a dozen to hundreds of dealers derived from each production plant. At least one hundred thousand enterprises are serving the industry.

"There are many problems in this industry, such as the poor quality of dealers, many people are repairing bicycles started, and for example, management confusion, there is another major problem is homogenization too serious!" Che Xiaoming, general manager of Tianjin city wind, concluded: "I admire BYD in the automotive industry, it is the representative of innovation, the electric car industry needs such a company."

The industry believes that the postponed implementation of electric motorcycle standards will be passed in 2010, though some provisions will be changed.

For many electric bicycle companies, if they are driven to the motor vehicle industry and compete with capital and technology intensive motorcycle enterprises, they will be almost dead end. Therefore, more enterprises will turn to producing low speed and light electric vehicles, which is bound to make the industry more competitive.

In the future, how to win in the electric bicycle industry and how to win in the fierce competition? Tan Bo's view is that in order to become a leader in the industry shuffling, besides deepening the service, we must achieve 4 words: "high, light, smart and new": high-end cars; reduce weight, make consumers convenient to use, and even easy to carry; add functions; use new materials and new energy sources.

If we want to put these 4 directions in order, Tan Bo thinks that "new" is the most important. If we want to kill the Red Sea competition of electric bicycles, we must strive to make breakthroughs in new materials and new energy. With the scale of the industry, the cost will continue to decrease.

Although electric motorcycles are difficult to compete with motorcycles, they still have their own advantages.

In addition, more importantly, new requirements for battery endurance and rapid charging are put forward, which poses new challenges for upstream battery manufacturers.

At present, in lead-acid battery industry, technology has been stable, and the two giants, Tian and super Wei, even occupy more than 60% of the whole market, while the lithium battery market is very scattered, and has not yet formed a leading enterprise.

If the electric vehicle is motorized, there will be more changes in the future battery market, because lead-acid batteries simply can not meet the needs of technology.

The emergence of materials and new energy is inevitable.

    Case 1

    Luyuan maintains customers with services

In the domestic electric bicycle market, Zhejiang Luyuan Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Luyuan) is a representative of Southern enterprises, with sales volume of 1 billion 300 million yuan in 2009.

To become the leading enterprise of electric bicycles in the south, many people think it is because the green source started early.

As early as 13 years ago, Luyuan began to produce electric bicycles. It was one of the first 5 enterprises to produce electric bicycles in China.

However, Ni Jie, chairman of Luyuan, does not think so: "early start is not the decisive factor for us to become the top three companies in the industry. Believe it, you can look at the other 4 enterprises that first produced electric bicycles 13 years ago. How many voices do you have?"

Ni Jie believes that the reason why Luyuan has become a leading enterprise in the industry is because it realized the importance of services earlier than other peers, and has done better than many peers in this regard.

In addition to electricity charges, a large part of the cost of electric vehicles is the cost of replacing batteries.

If the battery life is longer, consumers' loyalty will be higher and market share will be consolidated.

To this end, Ni Jie began to study battery maintenance services early.

3 years ago, Ni Jie began developing the equipment used to maintain the used battery, so he invested a lot of money.

Finally, the maintenance equipment was successfully developed in the second half of 2009 and began to be equipped to the exclusive store.

The device can add some ingredients to the battery used by customers to reduce the sulfation of the battery, and the efficiency reaches 85%.

Since September 2009, Luyuan has established a green battery alliance among consumers.

As each car buyer has detailed car purchase files at Luyuan, it is easy to understand how long the battery has been used.

According to the length of battery life, Luyuan can send battery maintenance messages to consumers by SMS, and remind them to maintain batteries in stores.

Battery maintenance is free during the one year warranty period of the battery, and if the warranty period is exceeded, a certain service charge will be added appropriately.

At present, Luyuan has more than 1000 stores in the country, and the battery maintenance equipment has equipped more than 100 of them.

"After investigation, users in remote areas appreciate this technology more, and the more than 100 stores that we are equipped with are mainly distributed in key cities.

Therefore, our focus now is to deploy the equipment to the two or three tier cities as soon as possible, to provide services to the customers there and win the battle of a competition service.

Ni Jie's example shows that many dealers such as electric bicycles are developed by the repair shop, and the overall quality is not high. The mature and complete services like home appliances and computer industry have become the key to maintain the share of brand enterprises.

    Case two

Xiang Qingsong's 160 million patent business

In April 6th, the Beijing Higher People's Court opened a case of legal infringement.

The plaintiff Zhejiang 001 Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as 001) is a medium-sized enterprise with output value of several hundred million yuan, but every move has shocked an industry worth hundreds of billions of yuan - the electric bicycle industry.

001 Xiang Qingsong, the chairman of the board, seemed to be confident: "our technology has applied for more than 70 patents, and the lawsuit has been fought from Hangzhou to Beijing. Although the defendants include permanent bicycle factories such as evergreen and Luyuan, we are winning the battle."

As early as the first time, Tsing Chung earned the first barrel of gold on the TV receiving antenna, and since then, it has entered the field of electric bicycles.

In November of 2005, with the help of Professor of electrical engineering and computer science department of Zhejiang University, Xiang song did not only develop energy recovery and charging technology for electric bicycles, but also reduced the cost of equipment from hundreds of dollars to tens of dollars.

In 2007, the technology passed the provincial appraisal.

"I invested 60 million yuan in technology research and development."

    Xiang Qingsong introduced.

Not only can the electric energy be recovered, but also the braking distance of the electric bicycle is greatly shortened because of changing the friction brake to rely on the electromagnetic resistance brake. If it stops at the speed of 60 kilometers, the ordinary electric vehicle needs ten meters, while the green pine's car only needs three or four meters.

In the end, the use of pine motors can save electricity by 35%, battery and motor life extended by 50%, braking distance reduced to original 1/3, and the price increased by only 100 yuan.

After 2009, he has built up his factory and started producing his own "001" brand electric bicycle.

In 2009, he produced more than 100 thousand electric bicycles and began exporting to Germany and Philippines.

However, there are more than 2000 manufacturing enterprises in the domestic electric bicycle industry. Because of the low threshold, many of them have only a dozen or so people, only to assemble motor, battery, frame and so on. The management of the whole industry is rather chaotic, and the infringement of intellectual property rights is not difficult to understand.

Seeing "self recharging electric bicycles", many electric bicycle enterprises, which are fiercely competitive under the homogenization situation, can not help but see that this is another opportunity to get rich. They are copying their equipment, and there are even some well-known large enterprises in some industries.

"I have applied for more than 70 patents for electric bicycles. Although the protection of intellectual property rights in China is not satisfactory, I still need to use solid evidence to bring justice back to the law."

Xiang Qingsong and the infringer have been in court in Hangzhou City Court since April 26, 2008, so far, two years have passed. In recent days, the Supreme People's Court of Beijing will announce the verdict.

Xiang Qingsong calculated an account and calculated the value of its patents: at present, the entire electric bicycle industry has an annual output of 21 million bicycles. If we calculate 2000 yuan for each vehicle, the annual output value of the whole industry will exceed 40 billion yuan. If the profit rate of the industry is 20%, the profits of the whole industry will be 8 billion yuan.

Because self recharging electric bicycles with energy recovery function have strong advantages in the industry, so the adoption of the technology may be all industry. Then, 001 of the patent fees even account for only 2% of the profits of electric bicycles, which will reach 160 million yuan a year.

"There is a famous saying that" first-class enterprises set standards ", I want to become such enterprises.

Xiang Qingsong told reporters with a smile.
