    ISO14064 "Low Carbon" Standards

    "Low carbon" has become a household word. "Low carbon" at the two sessions has also become the key issue of delegates.

    The judgment of anything requires standards, and "low carbon" is no exception.

    China Textile Economic Information Network invited experts from all sides to interpret the standards related to "low carbon" for you.



    ISO 14064:2006 is a standard consisting of three parts, including a set of GHG computing and verification criteria.

    The standard provides for the best international greenhouse gas data and data management, reporting and verification models.

    People can calculate and verify the emission figures by using standardized methods to ensure that the measurement of 1 tons of carbon dioxide is the same everywhere in the world.

    In this way, the calculation of uncertainty in emission statement is unified throughout the world, and the end user group (such as government, market trade and other interested parties) can rely on these data and make claims.

    The three part of the standard is:



    The first part of ISO14064 specifies the principles and requirements of the GHG list of design, development, management and reporting organizations or companies.


    The second part of the ISO14064 focuses on GHG projects aimed at reducing GHG emissions or speeding up the removal of greenhouse gases.


    The third part of ISO14064 describes the actual verification process.


    Through the verification of ISO14064, enterprises can be helped:


     


    1. increase the openness and pparency of emission data, including the degree of reduction targets, in order to increase the confidence of stakeholders, such as corporate shareholders and acquirers;


    2. as a basis for evaluating the target of reduction and setting a reduction target.


    3., as the basis for the management of greenhouse gas emission reduction within enterprises, to improve the management of greenhouse gas information, processes and data within the enterprise.


    4. as a necessary process for greenhouse gas emissions trading.



    The scope of application of ISO14064:


    1. risk management: risk identification and management.


    2. voluntary action: Accession to resource GHG registration and reporting actions;


    3.GHG Market: sale and purchase of GHG quota and credit amount;


    4. reporting by law or government departments, such as obtaining credit lines for advance action, negotiating agreements, or national reporting systems.



    ISO14064 case analysis


    Foxconn Electronics Industrial Development (Kunshan) Co., Ltd., which has already issued the ISO14064 greenhouse gas emission statement issued by the BV Certification Department, has set up a project team in 2008 to grasp the greenhouse gas emissions within the group. Its work focuses on greenhouse gas inventory, greenhouse gas management and reduction measures, and focuses on the overall operation of energy saving and emission reduction, and the green design and cleaner production of products.

    The greenhouse gas management of enterprises can be divided into two parts, one is greenhouse gas inventory and information management, the other two is the implementation of energy conservation and emission reduction measures.

    When setting up the goal of greenhouse gas emission management, low carbon production will gradually become a carbon neutral enterprise as a long-term goal of the enterprise.

    Through the formulation of greenhouse gas emissions report, the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions within the group are mainly the use of purchased electricity and other energy consumption, such as gas used in boilers and steam and diesel fuel used by generating units or official vehicles.

    As far as the type of enterprise activity is concerned, 95% of the emissions come from the indirect emission of external energy.


    The group can identify, check and quantify greenhouse gas emissions from the PDCA mode, and find the most significant improvement point of the reduction performance. At the same time, through the establishment of greenhouse gas management and control system, the operation of heating and cooling equipment of the plant under the abnormal climate condition is effectively reduced, and the influence of the price fluctuation of electricity and fuel on production is reduced, so as to ultimately reduce the production cost and enhance the operation income of the group.


    Science and technology: at present, the production process of science and technology is mainly for office R & D and manufacturing plant assembly.

    The identified sources of greenhouse gas emissions are direct and indirect emission sources, respectively. Direct greenhouse gas emissions are mainly caused by emergency generator fuel combustion, pportation of official vehicles, fire extinguishers, water dispensers, cold air refrigerants, and the production of CO2 emissions from the process part.

    The emission ratios of greenhouse gases were CO2 96%, CH43% and HFSc1% respectively. Through the third party certification of greenhouse gas emissions report, the greenhouse gas management group of the company formulated the greenhouse gas emission reduction plan, and gradually improved the whole production process to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
