WAL-MART Plans To Launch E-Commerce Business In China
WAL-MART (Walmart), the world's largest retailer, is planning to launch e-commerce business in China and Japan, aiming to increase overall sales by expanding its online business to new global markets.
The retailer has 282 entity stores in China, and 371 Seiyu stores in Japan, but there is no online direct selling service yet.
Today, the company is erecting related systems suitable for its new centralized network technology platform to match business in China and Japan.
In the past two years, WAL-MART has been developing this platform.
The retailer has stores in 14 countries and has developed strong online businesses in the US and the UK through its Asda.com sector.
In 2008, WAL-MART launched e-commerce in Brazil, the country with the highest broadband penetration in Latin America.
In Japan, Sai you also sells goods through the Rakuten, the largest online shopping mall in the country.
While WAL-MART is committed to the online strategy, other US retailers are also using the Internet to expand their international business.
Gap recently said it will launch online services in China later this year.
It will also launch a new e-commerce business in the UK, and will also serve western European countries that have not opened Gap stores.
