Global Merchandise Trade Volume In The First Quarter (25%)World Trade Organization (WTO)

According to the latest report issued by the World Trade Organization (WTO), the world's merchandise trade increased by 25% in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period last year, of which exports increased by 27% and imports increased by 24%.

Driven by strong demand from Asia and rising prices of bulk raw materials, exports of Africa, the Middle East and CIS countries increased by more than 50% over the same period, especially Russia's exports increased by 64%.

In terms of imports, China's imports increased by 65%.

China has become the world's largest exporter and second largest importer.

The world trade organization's report specifically mentioned that the Chinese government has implemented a series of expansionary fiscal and financial policies including the 4 trillion yuan stimulus plan in response to the global economic crisis.

This not only kept China's economy growing, but also made an important contribution to the global economic recovery.

At the same time, China has also played a constructive role in withholding trade protectionist pressures and promoting world demand growth.
