Jiaxing, Zhejiang: 2010 Spring Cocoon Prices Rose 653 Yuan Over The Same Period

Recently, the spring Cocoon acquisition in Zhejiang has started. Because cocoon cocoons are thicker this year, cocoon quality is generally better than in previous years. According to the Zhejiang Provincial Price Bureau's monitoring of two cities in Huzhou and Jiaxing, in June 1st, the average purchasing price of spring cocoons in Huzhou was 1640 yuan per kilogram (50 kilograms, the same below), up 653 yuan over the 987 yuan of the same period last year, or 66.16%; Jiaxing's 1550 yuan per load, increased by 600 yuan, or 63.16%, over the same period last year's 950 yuan.

Judging from the production situation of spring silkworms in two cities of Huzhou and Jiaxing this year, the amount of feeding declined obviously, while Zhang's production increased.

The total number of silkworms reared in Huzhou is about 160 thousand, which is 19 thousand and 900 less than that of 179 thousand and 900 in the same period last year, with a reduction of 11.06%. The yield per unit area is about 52.50 kg, up 0.77% from the 52.10 kg in the same period last year. The total output is about 8400 tons, a decrease of 972.79 tons compared with 9372.79 tons in the same period last year, with a decrease of 10.38%.

The total silkworm rearing in Jiaxing is about 240 thousand, which is about 11.11% less than that of the same period last year. The yield per unit area is about 50 kg, up 6.38% from 47 kg in the same period last year. The total output is about 12000 tons, a decrease of 690 tons over the same period last year, with a decrease of 5.44%, but this year's gross output value will reach 372 million yuan, an increase of 130 million 890 thousand yuan over last year, with an increase of 54.29%.

The sharp rise in the price of spring cocoons this year has created excellent conditions for the pricing of cocoons at various stages of the last stage. This has also boosted the confidence of the broad masses of silkworm farmers to a certain extent, and reduced the further occurrence of the destruction of mulberry.
