EU Regulates Safety Requirements For Children'S Sleep Products

    2010/8/4 9:47:00 28

    European Union Children'S Sleep Products

    European Commission

    The 2010/376/EU decision was launched.

The decision stipulates the safety requirements of 5 kinds of products related to children's sleep, such as baby mattress, bed circumference, baby hammock, children's down quilt and child sleeping bags.

Currently in the EU, the above 5 kinds.

    product

The regulation should be consistent with the 2001/95/EC general product safety directive (GPSD). However, the directive only provides some principles of safety requirements, and does not involve specific technical indicators.

Therefore, the EU is aware of the need to set up the coordination standards for the above 5 products, and the current standard setting work has been put on the agenda.

However, the safety of these 5 products should also be ensured by effective means before the formal issuance of the coordination standards. This is the purpose of the EU's 2010/376/EU decision.

According to the EU's non food rapid alert system (RAPEX) and the United States

    consumer goods

The Safety Council (CPSC) statistics show that the number of deaths caused by products such as cribs and children sleeping bags is far more than that of other child care products.

The main risks of these 5 kinds of products are as follows: infant mattress is inflammable and easy to cause children's injuries; bed girders are easy to cause child injury; hammock structure is easy to damage and unstable; children's down quilts can easily suffocate and overheat children; children sleeping bags easily cause children's bags to be injured.

    South Africa reports:

Early last week, the southern African clothing and textile workers' Union (SACTWU) held an emergency meeting with retailer Woolworths (WHL).

They want to discuss the closure of the unsuspenable underwear companies, a underwear and swimsuit factory in Cape Town, an important domestic supplier of WHL.

Last week, textile and Garment Group, Seardel investment company (SER) closed the underwear company. The underwear factory is a subsidiary of the group. The reason is that the loss is increasing, causing the company to lose 813 permanent jobs.

The southern African clothing and textile workers' Union (SACTWU) said that in view of the current downturn in the economic situation and the recent loss of job opportunities, if factory closures would have a negative impact, job loss has hit the peak in the past five years.

Sactwu also pointed out that downstream industries will show negative consequences.

In addition, the closure of factories will cause 813 people to lose their jobs, most of whom are women.

Every worker has to feed at least 5 people, so the more than 4000 people will suddenly lose their living resources.

Sactwu is currently awaiting the reply meeting of Woolworths.

They believe that general retailers, especially Woolworths, can help prevent more job losses.

Seardel has begun discussions with Sactwu and expects the affected departments to be closed in November 2010.

Queen said that various efforts will be made to fulfill orders at hand.
