After thorough investigation, Hongkong customs officers raided counterfeit goods in various parts of Hongkong in August 31st, searched 17 suspected chain stores and 2 offices suspected of selling counterfeit leather products, and seized about 4500 suspected counterfeit leather products, worth about 5 million Hong Kong dollars.

Customs officers found that a businessman had not authorized the use of a brand name on his products, and found that the products were made in Britain in the process of selling these products to consumers, but preliminary investigations revealed that the products were not made in European countries.

The Municipal Council reminding consumers that counterfeit goods should also be prevented when they travel to Hong Kong.
