New York: Clothing Recycling Program To Promote Circular Economy Development

The agency says the average American throws 10 pounds of socks, jeans, shirts, sheets and so on each year, while New York put 190 thousand tons of textiles into the landfill in 2008.

New York accepts a bid from a non-profit company and will sign a 10 to 15 year contract with the successful bidder, and the company will be responsible for all the collection boxes.

Not all clothes can be recycled, but some worn jeans or shoes may not be recycled.

But many companies can think of ways to use these clothes for other purposes, and only 5% of the recycled clothing is eventually thrown into the landfill.

If the plan is successful, it will be possible to implement clothing recycling projects nationwide.
