These 20 years are the growth history of a large number of business schools from scratch, and also a batch of MBA education experts' history of struggle.
Over the past year, a number of well-known MBA directors have retired or promoted to other positions.
In interviews, the managers of these MBA projects are most often discussing with us: what to do in the next 20 years? In the future, the object of training will change, and the economic environment and the needs of enterprises will change. How can we adapt to the future development?
MBA relocation and subdivision
In the past two years, under the leadership of mainstream business schools, domestic MBA has launched a wave of reform, which is in keeping with the development trend of international MBA education.
Tsinghua School of economics and management, China Europe International Business School, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Antai Institute of economics and management, Guanghua School of Management, Guanghua School of Management and other well-known business schools, have come up with practical reform plan.
The purpose or purpose of the reform is not because of what serious problems are emerging now, but rather based on the consideration of future development.
One is the fine positioning of the MBA project.
In the past, MBA positioning was very clear, training general managers.
Now, Tsinghua, China and Europe will reform their business schools in the future leaders or senior managers, and match the corresponding courses and teaching methods.

We have added many soft skills courses such as leadership and entrepreneurship.

The positioning and goal of Tsinghua's new MBA is to train leaders with comprehensive capabilities, not ordinary managers.

Tsinghua management has added a lot of soft skills and integrated practical courses in the new version of MBA, including the early interview for enrollment reform, and also to select a better source for new training directions.
Other colleges and universities, such as the school of Business Administration of Sichuan University, will clearly identify the routes to train professional managers: highlight the three directions of marketing, human resources management and new business management.
"In the past two years, the MBA of Sichuan University has also been thinking and exploring the reform. It is fully consistent with other well-known business schools in emphasizing practice and skills."

We believe that identifying future positioning according to our own situation will be a problem that many business schools need to rethink.
Curriculum reform is imperative.
In the past, MBA paid more attention to it.
Knowledge imparting
Hard curriculum is the main body, supplemented by case teaching, but lacks the cultivation of students' soft skills, character and practical ability.
Tsinghua MBA reform is relatively more thorough. There are 15 courses in the first year of the freshmen, 6 of which are newly opened.
The full implementation of the new version of MBA in 2009 is summarized in four parts: first, in addition to the hard skills previously emphasized, we should increase character training and soft skills development, such as increasing leadership, entrepreneurship, ethics and corporate responsibility; two, introducing experiential learning to enable students to participate in management practice, similar to clinical practice in medical schools.
At present, Tsinghua MBA has set up 6 classes and 88 students to operate in more than ten enterprises. Three, strengthen the integrated learning, break the barriers between disciplines, strengthen the use of comprehensive management skills; four, while strengthening the understanding of China, cultivate students' global vision and globalization experience.
According to Zhang Weijiong, the MBA curriculum reform in Central Europe is first of all to increase the content of Chinese mainland. Internationalization has always been the biggest feature and advantage of China and Europe. More than 1/3 students and 1/2 professors have come from abroad, which accounts for a large proportion of internationalization. Instead, they need to increase the content of Chinese mainland in the reform, invest 67 million yuan a year, encourage teachers to conduct research on Chinese local content; secondly, like Tsinghua, they increase practical courses, such as students in the first three semesters, requiring students to go to enterprises to do social responsibility practices such as energy conservation and environmental protection; third, to increase soft courses, such as leadership and entrepreneurship.
Tsinghua economic management and central Europe have pointed out a general direction for the reform of other business schools. Whether it is to train business leaders or ordinary managers, they must emphasize soft skills, experiential learning and character cultivation.
Different business schools can be combined according to their own conditions and conditions.
Enrollment reform, pioneers for the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Antai Institute of economics and management, from 2008 began trial interview, two years, this enrollment reform measures, so that the quality of MBA students in Shanghai Jiaotong University quality improved significantly.
In 2010, Tsinghua introduced the measures of enrollment reform, that is, the comprehensive literacy examination is the main and the written examination is subsidiary.
The change of enrollment is from the written examination to the assessment and interview; from the beginning of the joint examination to the beginning of the assessment and interview, from mixed enrollment to sub project enrollment.
There is no doubt that the above reform measures will bring better learning results to students, but also greatly increase the cost of training. Tsinghua, Central Europe and Sichuan University are all alike.
With the gradual deepening of reform, it will be inevitable to raise tuition fees in the future.
Some regional business schools themselves have lower tuition fees, raising tuition fees and being restricted by local price departments, to some extent, restricting their determination to reform.
Zhang Weijiong has been calling for more autonomy in business schools.
"We have better training and services, and better development, higher salaries and more tuition fees in the future."

Truly internationalize
In the development of MBA education in China, internationalization has always been emphasized, but often the form is greater than the substance.
Facing the next 20 years, China business school is bound to move towards the international arena. Competition at home and internationally renowned business schools is inevitable.
In domestic business schools, it can be said that only one central European company is truly internationalized and has international influence.
Its student 1/3 and teacher's 1/2, from more than 10 countries around the world, compete with other well-known international business schools for teachers and students.
For other business schools, we should strengthen internationalization from teachers and students, not only to go out, but also to import them.
In the international cooperation between China and Europe and Harvard Business School, China and Europe are dominant and their profits are at least 55.
However, most business schools in China cooperate with foreign business schools not only in small profits but also in Chinese projects.
This internationalization needs to be slowly reversed.
In addition to increasing courses in international economics and global management, Tsinghua's new version of MBA also provides students with global experience.
There are three main ways: one is to exchange for one semester in two grade to overseas business school.
Tsinghua has signed student exchange agreements with more than 90 overseas business schools around the world; two is spending ten days to two weeks for short-term overseas study, such as the "STEP" project cooperating with Stanford University business school, the "China Lab" project cooperating with Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of management, etc. three is a summer internship in a first year summer company.
When more and more 80 years go into the MBA classroom, under the background that China's economy is facing pformation and Chinese enterprises urgently need to improve the level of internal management, China's MBA education will also face more urgent reforms. This is not only a realistic pressure but also a great opportunity for business schools.
