Discussion On The Standard Name Of Clothing

Present situation

The current national standards of clothing industry include cotton garments, uniforms, children's clothing, men's suits, overcoats, trousers, shirts, knitted underwear, knitted sportswear, leather garments, knitted T-shirts, woollen knitwear, down garments, silk garments, jackets, dresses, skirt sets, windbreaker, denim clothes, pajamas, knitted casual wear and knitted sweaters. These standards have made great contributions to the development of China's clothing industry, the improvement of the quality of clothing products and the enhancement of market competitiveness.

However, there are still some problems, which are reflected in the following two aspects:

1. the basis of standard names is not uniform.

It is not difficult to see from the front 20 examples of clothing standard names that some of them are named after clothing styles, such as shirts, Western-style clothes, windbreaker, jackets, dresses, pajamas and so on. Some are named after clothing materials, such as silk garments, down garments, leather clothing, etc., some are named after the process and style of clothing materials, such as knitted sportswear, knitted T-shirts, knitted casual clothes, etc., some are named after clothing material composition and forming process, such as cotton knitted underwear, wool knitwear and so on.

The basis for making standard names is not uniform. Not only does it result in a wide variety of standard names, but also makes some garments integrated into their own.

The technical requirements and inspection methods of the same style and different materials are reasonable. However, the discrepancy between the number of samples and the rules of judgement has brought trouble to the implementation standard, especially the knitted apparel standards lack of appearance quality defects and quality defects.

The 2. part of the standard name definition is not exact.

In the daily clothing quality inspection, I found that the definition of the names of the two standards of knitted T-shirts and knitted casual clothes can not be found. What type of garments can be defined as T-shirts? What kind of garments can be defined as casual clothes? The domestic people generally think that knitted T-shirts with knitted buttons and knitted fabrics are knitted T-shirts, which should be implemented in the standard of knitted T-shirts, and the knitted fabrics with no collar and buttons are commonly used as "knitted casual wear" standards.

But the international definition of T-shirt is not collar or collar, that is to say, whether it is a collar, a button or a collar without buttons, it can be a T-shirt, which can carry out the standard of "knitted T-shirt".

Then what kind of clothing should be executed "knitted casual wear" standard? Authoritative person answer: because there are no relevant terms for knitting T-shirts and knitted casual wear in China, two standards can be implemented, regardless of whether there is a collar or a collar.

Similar problems also have the standard of "knitted sweater". What is a craft shirt? It is also a source of investigation. There is no definite definition.

Analysis and discussion

1. the classification of standard units is the main reason for the disunity of the name of clothing standard.

Referring to the current 20 normalized units of several garment product standards, it can be found that these standards are separately classified by four departments, namely, the national garment Standardization Technical Committee, the national textile Standardization Technical Committee knitwear branch, the national textile Standardization Technical Commission wool textile branch, the national leather leather industry Standardization Technical Committee and so on.

The difference in the composition of clothing materials determines the difference in quality and internal quality. It is not a matter of disagreement that different professional and technical committees are in favor of scientific formulation and examination of the correctness of standards.

However, it is worthwhile for the professional and technical committees to classify the clothing products in this field scientifically and reasonably, and to formulate strict and easy clothing production and quality inspection departments to implement the clothing product standard.

China's clothing industry belongs to the traditional national industry, with a low degree of modernization, a relatively late start of standardization technology, and a lagging behind in the research of technical standards. Although the standard system of clothing products of different styles has been gradually formed, the classification units of various countries' clothing standards have been classified in a very fine and orderly manner.

For example, cotton clothing, single clothing, children's clothing, men's suits, overcoats, trousers, shirts, jackets, dresses, skirts, windbreaker, denim clothes, pajamas, silk garments, down garments and other standards are standardized by the national garment Standardization Technical Committee; cotton knitted underwear, knitted sportswear, knitted T-shirts, knitted casual wear, knitted sweaters and other standards are classified by the national textile Standardization Technical Committee knitwear branch; the standard of wool knitwear is normalized by the national textile Standardization Technical Committee wool textile branch; leather clothing is classified by the National Leather Industry Standardization Technical Committee.

Looking closely at the standards of clothing products made by different departments, the standards of the imported products have been kept consistent in format and detail, but the standards between the departments concerned have different formats and details.

The author has been engaged in garment quality inspection for more than 20 years. According to the experience in actual implementation, the product standard of QB/T1615 leather garment revised in 2006 is highly esteemed. A simple standard is adopted. Through the classification of leather garments, the technical requirements include Western-style clothes, jacket, hunting suit, vest, shirt, skirt, trousers, windbreaker, coat, etc., even though the execution has saved the standard manufacturing cost.

What is worth mentioning is that the appendix C, "the comprehensive judgement of after-sale quality of leather garments", which is added to the standard, provides a basis for garment sales enterprises and garment quality inspection departments to solve quality disputes after sale.

This is a scientific attitude to keep pace with the times. It is worth every garment professional technical committee to think and learn from it.

2. the imperfections of the standard of garment terminology are the main reasons for the imprecise definition of some standard names.

Browsing the clothing sales market in the streets and lanes, we can find jumble product names on the price tag: pullovers, men's tops, seven points trousers, T-Shirts, fashion knot gowns and so on.

When the clothing quality inspection department conducts the market sampling inspection for these garments, it will be very difficult to fill out the sampling form. If it is filled on the name of the price card, it often conflicts with the name on the inspection basis (clothing product standard). Then, when filling in the incoming sample registration form, the sample circulation list, the original record and the inspection report, it will also be identified in the inspection of the laboratory quality qualification approval and the metrology accreditation review or supervision inspection, etc., which is not correct.

It would be even more troublesome if we did not fill in the name on the price card, but in accordance with the physical style, because the current 20 garment product standards have some corresponding names, but some of the standard names are not exactly defined.

Although the definition of clothing products is defined in GB/T15557's "clothing terminology" standard, the definition is mainly woven clothing, which is far from meeting the actual needs.

Therefore, the quality inspection department's sample inspection personnel according to their own experience and common sense for subjective classification, often will cause some unqualified clothing production and sales enterprises appeal, because of the lack of "clothing terminology" standard support, quality inspection departments lose the lawsuit is no doubt.

For example, the standard of knitted T-shirts and knitted casual wear is a typical problem.

Different styles of clothing should choose the corresponding product standards. This is not only a major event for garment production enterprises, but also an essential work for garment quality inspection departments.

The two garment with the same material and the same style should be the only choice. This not only embodies the rigour of the standard and the importance of production and inspection basis, but also facilitates the selection of standards by the garment manufacturers to better organize the production, and also facilitates the quality inspection department to choose the standard and better arrange the inspection.

For example, GB/T1557's "clothing terminology" standard stipulates that a garment with a cuff on the chest and a sleeve with sleeves is defined as a "shirt". Therefore, this style of dress should choose the standard of GB/T2660 "shirt". The garment with shorter length, wide chest circumference, tight cuff and tight hem style is defined as the jacket, so the clothes of this style should choose the standard of FZ/T81008 jacket.

Besides, if a garment is inspected by two different standards, it will make the inspection result change, and even lead the quality inspection department to be in court with the production enterprise.

Countermeasures and suggestions

1., it is suggested that the National Standardization Management Committee should strengthen the coordination and management of the National Standardization Technical Committee.

It restricts the behavior of various professional standardization technical committees with the system and articles of association, and restricts the standardization of various professional standardization technical committees with obligations and responsibilities.

In particular, the coordination and guidance of a number of professional standardization technical committees in an industry plays an important role in formulating unified and standardized industry standards.

2. it is suggested that all professional standardization technical committees should attach importance to the work of basic garment standards.

While flourishing the standards of clothing products, we must constantly improve the basic standards such as terms, instructions, fiber content, clothing size and so on, because these standards are the important reference standards in the standards of clothing products.

All professional and technical committees should not only define their products carefully but take full responsibility.

It is necessary to change the definition of the names of woven garments in the terms of clothing, and to define the names of knitted garments so as to make them the basis for formulating the standard names of clothing products.

At present, the trend of world economic integration is constantly strengthening. Improving the standard system of clothing industry, regulating the name of clothing products and unifying the rules of clothing judgement are of great significance for the clothing industry to cope with the changes in the international market. This is not only related to the development of the industry and the upgrading of the industry, but also has the guiding and guiding significance for the future development of the industry.
