Bangladesh Garment Workers Escalated To Three Deaths
Bangladesh police said in December 12th. The People's Republic of Bangladesh Garment factory Worker Protests demanding wage increases evolved into violent protests against the clashes between workers and police. Dozens of people were injured and 3 were killed.
One day, a Korea Companies shut down more than 10 factories in Bangladesh, and the protests intensified.
Chittagong police officer Mai Sheba Heading said 3 people died in the clashes, one of whom was killed by a brick. He said 50 people were injured in the Chittagong export processing zone, and about 20 thousand workers attacked factories and a police station.
Some media reports said Bangladesh's clothing factories should raise workers' minimum wage at the latest last month, but some factories did not raise wages for workers despite government warnings. Garment workers began protests this month.
