Comprehensive media reported on December 16th that a newspaper in Egypt quoted the Minister of trade on Thursday as saying that Egypt intended to approve the import of short staple cotton to meet its requirements.

Al-Alam al-Youm, Egypt's financial daily, reported that the Ministry of trade agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of agriculture to open the import window to help local textile mills against high cotton prices.
