The responsible person of the city's industry and Commerce Bureau said that the Bureau recently sampled the down garments and cold proof clothes sold in the circulation areas of Chengdu's shopping malls, specialized markets and clothing stores, and mainly tested the use instructions of clothing, formaldehyde, pH value, peculiar smell, color fastness, filling, cashmere content, feather cleaning, feather microorganism and fiber content.

The results showed that 10 batches of down coats and 6 batches of cold proof clothing failed to be tested. The main indicators were color fastness, filling, cashmere content, down microorganism, fiber content and other indicators which did not meet the national standard requirements.

It is reported that the industry and commerce departments have ordered enterprises to dispose of substandard products and require enterprises to carry out rectification immediately.

According to one industry insider, the quality of the down garment is mainly determined by the down feather inside it.

Usually good eiderdown, should be duck or goose and other waterfowl animal hair root of small velvet.

But on the market now, some low price down clothing will add chicken and ducks and other poultry to crush the feathers, the cost will be much lower.

The commerce and Industry Department reminded the public that when buying down clothing, they should not blindly pursue low prices. Wearing poor quality products for a long time may cause skin allergies and severe respiratory diseases.
