After years of efforts, the research group has developed a series of technologies for pollution reduction and integrated utilization of tannery waste, and set up a "cleaner production evaluation index system for leather industry" and "cleaner production standard for leather industry" issued by the state. At the same time, a series of key chemical and biochemical materials such as a series of enzyme preparations, chrome free tanning agents and other more than 10 kinds of supporting cleaning technologies have been developed, and integrated applications have been realized. A clean production line of leather, pig skin and sheepskin leather has been formed, which is of far-reaching significance for leading the leather industry in China to take the road of circular economy development.

The tannery Industrial Zone in Xinji has achieved the "separate storage of the chromium solution, the special pport of sewage treatment plants, and centralized treatment". The new technology and equipment of chrome liquor, lye recycling, ash free expansion and water saving drum have been vigorously promoted in leather enterprises. The water consumption of tanning will be saved by more than 1/3, the tannery sludge will be reduced by 80%, and the amount of chrome and lye emissions will be reduced by 70%.
In particular, the Dongming group's tannery wastewater recycling technology project has won the first prize in the national energy conservation and emission reduction. By guiding enterprises to adopt chrome free tanning, chrome free tanning leather has accounted for more than 70% of the total, thus becoming a veritable "green leather".

The domestic "clean tanning process and green industry linkage integration technology and engineering demonstration" project has completed the integrated application in 9 enterprises, forming a clean production line.
At the same time, over 15 cowhide tanning enterprises and 20 pigskin tanning enterprises completed the pilot, pilot and industrial experiments.
The data showed that the average amount of tannery water was reduced by 31%, the average reduction of sulphide was 88%, the average emission of lime was 81%, the average reduction of COD, SS and TS was 47%, and the average emission of ammonia nitrogen was 67%, which could eliminate or reduce tannery pollution from the source.
In the past 3 years, 9 production lines have produced 7 million 980 thousand pieces of pig and cow leather, and the output value is 2 billion 161 million yuan, and the profits tax is 250 million yuan.
