The survey found that 32% of respondents had been shopping on overseas websites in the past 12 months. Among them, the hottest spannational online shopping items are clothing and shoes (25%), cosmetics and fragrances (18%), air tickets (18%) and books (14%).
According to the survey, 17% of respondents in Taiwan conducted cross-border online shopping in the past 12 months, buying clothing and shoes (38%), online auctions (30%), and tourist accommodation (22%).
Taiwan respondents who bought overseas websites said that the main reason for consuming overseas websites was that local websites or shops did not provide the goods needed (61%), overseas websites had more commodity choices (29%), and overseas websites purchased relatively cheaply (24%).
The survey found that in the 6 Asian markets of the Asia Pacific region, the proportion of consumers shopping on the US websites is the most, while the shopping websites in Hongkong are the first choice for consumers in mainland China. In the past December, 90% of respondents who bought overseas websites showed that they had at least one experience in shopping in the US website.
