However, the Minister of textile industry pointed out that the supply of the market was limited and there was no surplus for export. A leading exporter in India said that India's cotton planting area will expand by 10% in 2011/12 due to the attractive market price.
The northern cotton area of Punjab and the hare area has been sowing early in the near future. Compared with other areas, two months to come, the local cotton irrigation water is adequate, and the cotton planting will be postponed to the end of April in some areas due to the wheat harvest. The central cotton region Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh need to wait for the seasonal storm season (7-9 months) to bring sufficient planting.
The exporter also pointed out that if the weather is stable, India's cotton output will reach 3500-3700 bales (595-629 tons) in the new year.
According to the India state owned Cotton Corp (CCI), as of April 4th, the amount of cotton seed purchased in India was 27 million 12 thousand packs (4 million 592 thousand tons), up 2% from the same period in 2010.
Cotton purchase is coming to an end in 2011/12, and new cotton spring sowing is speeding up.
Cotton growers have strong planting intentions. Cotlook expects that the new year will reach 3 million 242 thousand hectares, and its output is expected to reach 2 million 150 thousand tons, an increase of 22% over 2011/12.
