Kampuchea Garment Factory Works Badly In &Nbsp; Thousands Of Workers Fainted.

Police officers in Phnom Penh confirmed that about 200 female employees collapsed in the afternoon of King Fashion Garment in June 15th afternoon, and another more than 100 people fainted on the morning of 16.

The police said: "for special reasons, the ad hoc committee has not yet been established, but the health condition of the workers is obviously worrisome. They are not well fed, and the workshops are not ventilated, which is suffocating."

In April this year, the government of Kampuchea investigated another massive collective collapse. At that time, more than 800 workers from two garment factories collapsed.

Police say the pungent smell of chemicals and unqualified drinking water may be the cause of the collective fainting in the last two days.

It is reported that the factory employs about 2000 workers, and the factory has been shut down for an afternoon.

Workers revealed that they suspected drinking water, or that some cotton was emitting chemical odors.

A worker said, "we have endured two days of unpleasant smell in the factory. After drinking water, we may be poisoned."

Another worker said it might be partly because the factory was too hot inside.

It is reported that garment manufacturing is the third pillar industry in Kampuchea, next only to agriculture and tourism.

The garment manufacturing industry has 300 thousand employees in Kampuchea, and many Western brand clothes are produced in Kampuchea.

At present, international labor activists are pressing for these garment brands and Kampuchea factories to improve their working conditions.
