In July 2nd, we learned from the Wuxi textile industry association that the new version of the national basic safety technical specification for textile products (GB18401-2010), originally scheduled for August 1st this year, has been postponed to August 1, 2012.

Reporters interviewed learned that the new standards pay more attention to the safety of textile products, and thus put forward higher requirements for the production of textile enterprises.

The standard pays more attention to the "safety" of infant products.

Compared with the 2003 edition, the new standard of Wuxi entry exit inspection and Quarantine Bureau introduced the following significant changes: first, the age range of infant textile products was expanded from the original "24 months or below 80 centimeters" to "36 months or 100 centimeters below"; two, the banned aromatic amine increased the 4- amino azobenzene; three was the product of direct contact with skin, which added swimsuits, quilts, towels and hats, and further defined all underwear; in addition, some articles were also made more practical modifications, such as the pH value of products directly touching the skin changed to 4.0-8.5.

Due to the prohibition of 4- amino azobenzene, it is necessary for enterprises to pay special attention to improving the quality of dyestuffs used in dyeing, and not to use 24 kinds of banned aromatic amines.

Clothing prices will rise, "organic clothing" is the future trend.

"Once the new standards are implemented, other relevant standards must be followed."

Chen Zhengming, Deputy Secretary General of Wuxi Textile Industry Association, said that the implementation of the new standard was postponed for a year because the timing is not mature enough.

Although time has been postponed, the overall direction of the development of the entire textile industry has not changed. Textile enterprises have begun to prepare for adapting to the new standards.

The dyestuff and auxiliaries used in printing and dyeing process must be selected, and the self checking ability of enterprises should also be improved.

The cost of adding testing equipment and purchasing dye will inevitably bring about the increase of textile production cost. In addition, with the continuous increase of labor costs and raw materials, the price of clothing in the future is likely to continue to rise.

With the enhancement of people's health consciousness, the attention to clothing has changed from the past styles and fabrics to the present health and safety. "Organic clothing" has gradually entered the life of Chinese people.

Chen Zhengming introduced that the raw materials of organic clothing were all made of organic cotton, and no pesticides were used in the process of planting. In the process of processing, plant dyes were used instead of chemical stains. However, due to the high cost of organic cotton cultivation, there is no large area for planting in China, but "machine clothing" will be the major trend of the textile industry in the future.

Wuxi textile industry is a traditional textile important base in our country. It has the reputation of "seeing Jiangsu in China's textile and seeing Jiangsu in textile and watching Wuxi".

Wuxi Textile Industry Association statistics show that as of the end of last year, the city's textile industry has 1340 annual sales revenue of more than ten million yuan, 269040 employees, and sales income of 160 billion 240 million yuan, and the quality of the textile economy continues to be ahead of the national counterparts.

But compared with other industries in Wuxi, the pace of development has been relatively backward. The proportion in Wuxi's industry has dropped from 22% in 2000 to 12.54% in 2010.

"Labor is very scarce now."

The textile industry is a labor-intensive traditional industry. Chen Zhengming said that in recent ten years, the output of clothing has been increasing continuously. The labor force in the textile industry has been very scarce. Coupled with the poor working conditions in the textile industry (noise, three class production) and the high labor intensity, the phenomenon of "low income, no recruitment and no retention" has been highlighted, and the problem of labor force has become a major bottleneck for the sustainable development of the textile industry.
