Reporter: you can briefly talk about the general situation of textile and clothing export in Guangdong Province, and export trade in Guangdong textile.

Liu Yueping: Guangdong has always been a major exporters of clothing. Clothing exports account for half of the clothing industry. However, with the outbreak of the financial crisis in 2008, some export enterprises began to focus on the domestic market, and gradually adjusted the proportion of exports to domestic sales. The proportion of clothing exports to the entire garment industry has been decreasing year by year.

Reporter: in the past ten years since China's entry into the WTO, what challenges and opportunities have been brought to Guangdong's textile and garment industry with the global economic integration?

Liu Yueping: first of all, the gradual abolition of quotas has brought broad market space for Guangdong's clothing products to enter the international market in an all-round way. The export volume of clothing in Guangdong has been more than 3.7 times the total export volume from 9 billion dollars in 2000 to 33 billion 922 million dollars in 2007.

At the same time, due to the dependence on exports, the global market contraction caused by a financial crisis directly caused a huge blow to Guangdong's clothing industry. In 2008, Guangdong's clothing exports dropped to 25 billion 354 million US dollars, a direct decrease of 8 billion 568 million US dollars from the previous year.

Therefore, the fluctuation of the international market is a great challenge for Guangdong's clothing industry.

Reporter: foreign trade processing has always been an important part of the clothing industry in Guangdong. What changes has taken place in the garment foreign trade processing in Guangdong Province in the past ten years after China joined the WTO?

Liu Yueping: in the past ten years since China's entry into WTO, Guangdong's clothing trade, processing and export have also undergone some important changes.

For example, before joining the WTO, Guangdong's clothing export was mainly made up of three to one complement of simple processing and low-end sample processing OEM OEM processing mode, almost without involving the content of independent design.

However, with the entry into the WTO and deep participation in international competition, some garment export enterprises began to set up their own R & D team and carried out the ODM cooperation mode, which promoted the core competitiveness of their products in the design content and other aspects, and also increased the added value.

Reporter: in the light of the changes in the domestic and foreign economic situation, what are the plans for the export of Guangdong's garments?

Liu Yueping: with the frequent occurrence of trade friction, our clothing export in Guangdong has begun to consider how to promote trade balance.

For example, our mode of cooperation with South Korea is to introduce Korean fabrics to the Korean fabric exhibition in Guangzhou. Through the international fashion collection platform, we can help Korean brands enter the Guangdong market. At the same time, we have established a good relationship with the Seoul East Gate sightseeing SAR agreement, allowing Guangdong's clothing to enter the Korean market through the east gate clothing business circle.

At present, the proportion of clothing imports and exports between South Korea and Guangdong is about 1 pieces of Korean clothing sold in Guangdong, and there will be 3 pieces of Guangdong clothing sold in Korea.

Now, we are also exploring how to cooperate with American designers to improve trade balance and enhance the competitiveness of Guangdong's clothing products market.

Reporter: in your opinion, what are the advantages of Guangdong's textile and garment industry?

Liu Yueping: from the national perspective, the advantages of Guangdong's textile and garment industry are mainly embodied in three aspects.

First, geopolitical advantage, thanks to the reform and opening up, the earliest three to one processing has laid a solid foundation for Guangdong clothing industry technology, talents and experience. At the same time, with the advantages of neighboring Hongkong, Guangdong fashion products keep up with the trend in the design style, and become the source of domestic fashion trend.

The two is the advantages of the industrial chain. The complete industrial chain is the prerequisite for Guangdong's garment industry to vigorously promote industrial pfer in the whole province.

Moreover, with the increasing cost of materials and labor, the headquarters of garment enterprises can be retained to maintain the healthy development of the garment industry, and the industrial chain is the core competitiveness.

The three is the advantage of talents. The soul of clothing products lies in the design. More than 1/4 of China's top fashion designers are gathered in Guangdong. Of them, 61.5% of the Golden Summit designers are serving Guangdong's clothing enterprises, while Guangdong has more than 30 specialized colleges and universities, conveying more than 8000 professionals to the garment industry every year.

Reporter: what is the direction of structural adjustment and industrial upgrading of Guangdong's clothing industry in the future?

Liu Yueping: in the past two years, especially after the global financial crisis, the Guangdong provincial Party committee and the provincial government put forward to actively expand domestic demand, emphasizing the "three promotion and one maintenance", namely, promoting the ability of independent innovation, promoting the pformation and upgrading of traditional industries, promoting the construction of a modern industrial system, and maintaining steady and rapid economic development.

As one of the dominant traditional industries, Guangdong garment industry is faced with a serious problem of how to upgrade and pform the modern garment industry through independent innovation.

In this critical period of pformation and upgrading, we should follow the laws of economic development, grasp the development opportunities of traditional advantageous industries, rely on modern service industries, increase the application of information technology, e-commerce, automation technology and software development in the clothing industry, develop the modern urban garment industry with high added value and high growth, and further enhance the competitiveness and sustainable development of the industry. It is an efficient engine for the upgrading, pformation and development of Guangdong's garment industry.

On February 6, 2007 -16, the Guangdong apparel and apparel industry association went to the United States to take part in the Las Vegas ASAP garment processing order exhibition.

The delegation visited the Hawaii state government and visited the Western headquarters of WAL-MART, JC-PENY, KOHLS and other companies in Losangeles. They also visited the major shopping malls to understand the procurement standards, inspection standards, sales status and purchasing trends.

On September 2, 2008 -6, the Guangdong apparel and apparel industry association, Guangdong garment designers association, Guangzhou Yuexiu District economic and Trade Bureau, Guangzhou Haizhu Zhongda Textile Industry Association jointly organized Guangdong textile and garment entrepreneurs and designers visiting and exchanging groups, as well as Guangzhou Liuhua mineral spring clothing trade circle and South Korea Seoul east gate clothing market trade cooperation negotiation group. A group of 45 people went to South Korea to launch a 5 day visit, investigation, exchange and business negotiation activities.

The delegation included entrepreneurs and designers of Daewoo, Zhongfu, Liansheng, Longzhi, swart, Xinrong, Liyao, win win, Xin Yu, new products, magic fish, cross border, Tai'an, Sheng Mei, Lin Sheng and other textile and garment companies.
