Overseas Brands Have Entered Australia
New research shows that although Australia's recent retail market is very bleak, it's overseas.

Retail sales in Australia showed negative growth, but the profits of Harvey Norman, Woolworths, Wesfarmers and JB Hi-Fi were still rising in the 2010-2011 fiscal year.

We estimate that in fiscal year 2010-2011, retail sales in Australia increased by about 3% over the previous fiscal year, while interest and unemployment rates remained relatively low, and disposable income increased.
"This is very attractive to overseas retail brands."
IBIS World general manager KarenDobie said.
With the steady support of the Australian dollar, the low price of imported goods also makes every sector of the retail sector expected to continue to grow.
Some books and clothing chain stores have been closed, but some overseas successful brands, such as the US retail giant CISCO, have made full profits in the first year of their business, and the Bunnings branch has expanded continuously in the 166 million 400 thousand Australian dollar collection.
Woolworths rushed into the hardware market and planned to open 15 more stores during the year.

Retailers lost 2% of their profits in fiscal year 2011, but expect to rebound 1.5% in fiscal 2011-2012.
Other retail sectors, including catering, department stores, clothing chains, hardware and books, will also maintain a positive growth in the current fiscal year.
